Luke McGuane

Re: Luke McGuane = Guts

He had a shocker tonight, may be dropped for Moore or Gourdis
Although you'd think he'd get a warning and then be dropped if he has another bad one against West Coast

Re: Luke McGuane = Guts

Disgrace. Chewed up the ball & turn it over, was behind all night, gave away stupid free kicks becuase he was behind. Every bloke he went on had a day out.

But hey, besides that he had guts.

Spot on, had an absolute shocker. How many hands in the back frees!! Gave them at least 3 goals

Re: Luke McGuane = Guts

Maybe we should just bring in Post and the Goo and drop Thursfield and McGuane and get it over with. Take the early pain for the long-term gain.

Please tell me you're joking,

Like it or not - several of those made All Australian!

Deservedly!

Luke McGuan wouldn't make starting 22 in 14 other clubs.

you need not leave this site to read: "Gaspar Kellaway Kellaway dud dud dud"

in defense of that opinion they have little to show for being a star-studded backline

looking forward, even Thursfield and Moore are less value than McGuane in my opinion

the differing opinions are interesting to say the least

Moore's best is much better than McGuane. Am starting to worry though about Thursfield. Doesn't seem to have many tricks.

its quotes like this that show people cant watch objectively.
yep mcguane had a shocker, but kosi, who mcguane was on kicked 2 goals for the game. who had a day out against him?
also according to the H-Sun he didnt turn the ball over once. not once.

Surely McGuane played on Milne?

but when was Moore's best? I like Moore too, so no grief but,

for me McGuane can improve but the other two probably can't.

- Scotty Turner's return was pretty average early on in a lowly side.

Re: Luke McGuane = Guts

5 frees against, and as usual, majority completely unnecessary. Gone backwards.

Re: Luke McGuane = Guts

I feel for anyone who plays in our backline, the way it comes down there. Especially times like tonight. Gee its easy to blame players that have to play down there when its pumped in there without too much pressure from other players upfield.

Re: Luke McGuane = Guts

He had a shocker, although he was the only player on the field with 100% disposal efficiency

Pretty harsh Scoop, but sadly I think you are on the money.

Being consistenly led to the ball by Kosi is a bad sign. Luke had a shocker last night, his poor decision making was really exposed. He was directly responsible for 2 Stkilda goals in the first quarter and he didn't get any better from there.

People are right when they say that he didn't get many goals kicked on him, but make no mistake Kosi flogged him last night. Kosi provided the structure for Milne to do as he pleased. McGuane was unable to restrict Kosi in anyway and as a result their forward line functioned very well.

He has to go.

Re: Luke McGuane = Guts

The umpires killed us early. Two of them against Luke were a disgrace and if they were by the same umpire he should get dropped.
Luke is fighting out of his weight division and needs help down there.

Re: Luke McGuane = Guts

Luke is a req player for the time. We need other key backs, we have been saying this for years. We a crying out for a full back, luke, will, and kel are not good enough to play full back!

I thought the same Tubs. The backline get belted. But the main cause is the overlap and poor midfield pressure and defence. Too many still only running one way. There is a big emphasis on forward (frontal) pressure, but that falls down if the midfield aren't prepared to run back, man up and defend. Causing loose men to use the overlap.
That's what killed us (as well as some poor, poor umpiring)

Nah don't agree. McGuane is playing above is weight. Won't get any better. Moore's best was a couple of years ago. Last year was a wipeout due to injury. I have seen some promising signs from Moore again this year and he will continue to improve as long as he can stay injury free.

Re: Luke McGuane = Guts

Amazing stat (well I think so). Saints had 19 free kicks. Our two key position players gave away 8 of those, 5 to McGuane and 3 to Thursfield. That's alot of free kicks in their forward line. At the other end Gilbert and Fisher had 1 free against between them. Why the discrepancy?
