I've heard of one eyed supporters but that is just plain stupid!!! You my friend are deluded. While McBean has shown some glimpses at VFL how you could possibly say you would have him over Daniher is absurd. Daniher is going to be an Elite tall once he matures learns to kick. :edited for accuracy. :hihi

Hope he gets another run against the Pies.

agree ToO. fair dinkum supply from the midfield in cooler conditions will work wonders.

many on here are right in their conventional wisdom to say a 200+cm string bean in his second year needs time in the magoos to cook.

i'll repeat -- liam mcbean is no ordinary string bean. he's a gazelle with amazing dexterity and a superb kick.

he'll play this year and he'll give us some ridiculously entertaining cameos.

Not for leysy, let's get some form & fitness behind him first before we risk denting the lads confidence.

I'd have him over Daniher as well Fuddy.

Interestingly Joe's dad is a big wrap for Beanie too.

I start second guessing myself when I see Leysey agrees with me.

Frawley....deluded, well theres a first for everything!!... can i ask you what daniher has done that McBean hasn't? Maybe 6 more possessions in a practice game in September... loops sorry! how can you say he's going to be elite? because of his name? the bloke can't kick!! he can work on that but its never going to be a strength!

For mine id leave him to train and get form and confidence back in VFL until he's ready, he saw the speed of it... Another run wouldn't hurt but he was a fair way off the pace, only been about 3 weeks now since he joined main group training.

I find it amazing that daniher is a *smile* kick. You would think growing up in that family he would have been kicking a footy as soon as he could walk. If he can't kick now you have to wonder if he ever will.

Nice one sheepy.

It's changed in here. Kind of like a beautiful tropical island that gets discovered and turned into club med.

Oh well, you can't stop progress

The StringBean could be a very good player one day, but those who were calling last year for his promotion to the seniors so he could win the Coleman medal went way, way too early. Let's not throw him to the wolves by forcing him onto the gorilla defenders when he's not ready yet...

He needs nurturing and time - if he has 3 good hit-outs in the seniors at the end AFL Premiership season I'll be satisfied with his progress.

You're assuming he gets a gorilla. Say injury strikes jack and Tyrone assumes power forward #1 and the hampster power forward #2 (rotating). Not many teams have a third tall that could go with bean both aerially and across the ground.

I would be satisfied with around 5-7 games from the bean. He's good enough to compensate for his unbearable lightness of being.

I assume nothing and I'd reckon AFL coaches would have a number of strategies to neutralise a green bean (see what I did there). Although I dig the McBean vibe, I'm very aware that most tall players take 3-5 years to develop, and I'm also aware that with his light build the first thing opposition coaches will do is use stronger more physically developed players against them, whether talls or shorts.

I also think the weight of expectation that some people are putting onto a guy who has not played a senior AFL game yet is totally ridiculous, especially given their attitude to someone like a Vickery who has come along very nicely but still has a "he'll never make it" air of judgement from some posters.

Smart post antman. Lynden Dunn is hardly a world beater.

Agree Antman, think he can play in a few years, obviously any exposure this year and next would help... Needs to put on weight and not lose his agility etc... I would still take him over Daniher who can't kick!! if progress is made over next 2 years he will be 20-21 and be a very good player! For that matter don't think Daniher will ever reach TV levels if he can't fix his kicking, if he can then lets see he could be anything i guess.

Lynden Dunn was out marked in only one of his 46 defensive one-on-one duals in 2013.

I was surprised we played him last week! He has 0 form since the injury!! no harm I guess, but there is probably a little doubt creeping in to his mind right now. Let him get back to smashing it in the VFL, put some Kgs on and work from there!!
