Liam McBean

Early indications from the NAB are that Daniher seems to be maturing a little quicker than Lean McBean.

hopefully he plays more game time against the skunks so we can have a better look.

Doesn't a badly fractured ankle count for anything? Kid was flying before he injured himself last year. He's just a bit rusty.

Daniher was about 10kg heavier when he was drafted as a top 10 draft pick. Was a great effort by the Bean to match his VFL production last year but still has some way to go.

Not overly concerned about the Tiger Beanie being a bit behind in the weight stakes at such an early age. Putting aside impact injuries there seems to be a lot of junior footballing monsters that have two major concerns.
The simplest is where some of these kids are so much bigger than the kids they play against that it takes them extra time to develop the work ethic n physical integrity to compete properly against mature bodied men even though they are of similar size or bigger.

The more worrying is the consistent soft tissue injuries that seem to stem from immature bodies trying to cope with the physical mass at elite level and regularly breaking down.
Nic Nat, Tomahawk, Patton, Grundy etc. These kids come in as man mountains so to speak as 18 year olds yet rapidly succumb to constant soft tissue injuries that curtail them for years. Might not be such a bad thing for a kid to be 5 to 10 kg lighter than these types and gradually build up to a similar weight scale over three or four years.

Just got round to watching the NAB match and my one thought on McBean is he has a way to go before he is an AFL player. At times he looked either exhausted or plain out of his depth. Another season in VFL and a few more kilos in weight then he may have it

I felt for him delivery wasn't the best plus his first kick was a shocker. Worst of all he has space makes a great lead them marks after the siren. He was in a few more contests which shows his ability to read the play. Great thing is if griff steps upMcbean has more time to develop.

Not suggesting you are making this up, but do you have a source for this claim. I watched them both a bit in their TAC year and they were very similar in build. And ability for that matter.

Hence the comparison.

Certainly looked like this was the case. Was lumbering around a fair bit and going to ground easily.
Didn't appear to have a lot of conditioning as you would expect having a very interrupted pre season.
Hope that ankle doesn't impact his development too much. Clearly needs more run in his legs yet.

5kg difference according to the offical record, McBean was also described as 'lightly framed'

geez, tough on McGod.

Really shouldnt have played, only the elite & experienced talls can come back from 6 months out & play half decent footy after 2 weeks. You can tell by the amount of times he lost his feet he wasn't right. A senior player would not have started but they obviously wanted to give him a taste.

Get him back in form after playing a good block of footy & we'll see a vastly different footballer this year.

They want to get riewoldt vickery and Hampson operating together for a couple of games before round 1 o I'm not sure McBean and Griffiths will get a run this week. Stepho will cover for Maric and astbury will be third tall back again while grimes is out. Nean and maybe A Edwards will drop put for Conca and Jacko.

Lack of condition was pretty obvious. He's got potential, but there wasn't a lot on display on Friday night.

Maybe, but last Friday Frawley and Dunn both played on Beanie and he gave away a significant amount of weight and of course experience. The delivery was poor and so many times he was just pushed aside. On the other hand Daniher looked good playing on a smaller and lighter kid with not much experience. Not much can be assessed by this. Lots of water to go under the bridge yet.

Yeah as said from straight after the game when people were saying delist...dud.. He's going to make it and be a serious player for us providing no further major injuries, might take a few years, its his 2nd year and he's very tall...... Id take McBean over Daniher for the pure fact McBean can kick straight!!!! Not just for goal but to team mates!!!

Will take time for weight and recover from current rehab.. Would think if he can show something and build up fitness say mid year we could slot him in.. Will be difficult to fit Ty, Hampson/Maric and McBean in forward line though, could see how tall we were last week!! would need elite crumbers..

I've heard of one eyed supporters but that is just plain stupid!!! You my friend are deluded. While McBean has shown some glimpses at VFL how you could possibly say you would have him over Daniher is absurd. Daniher is going to be an Elite tall once he matures.

Frawley maybe a read of the afl prospectus might help you understand the talent the expert's see in the Bean .
