Agree with this. Need more than the odd deft handball. Physical presence is lacking for someone that has been in the system as long as string bean. String bean unfortunately has no elite AFL qualities. Makes sense to get Ty back in.

What are the elite AFL qualities that Ty possesses?

Geez this makes me furious.

What a bloody joke. Why not give every player the same opportunity? It's not as if he performs poorly in the VFL. Plenty of potential upside and we aren't even going to bother trying to develop it.

Im not saying McBean will make it, or be a superstar etc.. but why not give him the same chances as Griffiths or Vickery? Or other forwards around the league that kick less goals than McBean in the reserves.

Just does my head in.

Let's see what Vickery can give us. Oh, we already kno because we've been playing him for 5 years and guess what, he's sh!t!

His development has been shafted by this club. I hope for his sake another club can rehabilitate him, but it's going to hurt if they do.

Words fail me except for how long do we have put up with this crap at Punt Road. I am going to watch this game with interest to see how TV performs against Mummy (if he plays) & Lobby show.

Physical presence, elite qualities? Tyrone Vickery?

You forgot the smiley, didn't you? Please say yes. :help

Beans only got himself to blame. All he had to do is kick 4 goals and take 8 marks per game. That's only 1 goal and 2 marks a quarter. Not good enough.

He did kick one goal in 12 quarters though so not far off. One goal in what, about 17 quarters, if you count last year's efforts.

The thing with the Bean is his best footy will be from 26-30. Probably in the ruck, Cox-style. He's 22 soon. So do you keep him for four years?

I've always been a fan. But VFL footy is very different to AFL. The reason the coaches are on him to work up the ground is because forwards have to in the big league.

Everyone has to be able to run, even a 'deep forward' has to spend half his time the wrong side of centre half forward. That's the way the game is. I had hoped reduced rotations might herald a return to positional football, but flood-kick-chase is still the dominant method.

I don't know where that leaves Beanie.

probably one of the few good posts on this whole thread. mcBean has talent but he still needs to physically develop.
he is either not athletic enough or not strong enough at this point. if he can get strong enough he will probably become a good ruck/forward.
hope he is on the list next year.

Correct. I'll pack his bags for him

As long as Hardwick is coach McBean will struggle to get much if anymore game time.
I'm not on the McBean Train, but I would have given him a game or two more before discarding his back to the VFL.

Never has so much been said about so little. If he couldn't dominate in the reserves, he was never going to set the world on fire. I don't think he does anything particularly well to warrant all of the hype. Classic case of wishful thinking.

Agree. Don't know if he will make it, in fact I don't think he will - but he needs games. I suspect this week out is just a rest, hope to see him back in next week.

Vickery actually did kick 36 goals as a 21 yr old. String Bean please. Point was with Bean not up to the level and Griff out Vickery had to come back in. Simple really.

Needed to show something. Hasn't got it....... never has never will. A complete waste of a spot on our list for years. Should have been delisted a fair while back. It's not rocket science...... you can play or you can't. ... Bean can't. ...
