Liam McBean

He's kicked a bag of 1 goal from 5 starts so far, even though you said he'd kick five goals against Essendon.

Of course McBean's failure to live up to your expectations can be put down to Hardwick, it's the easy option.

Bombers game he played ok creates more goals than he kicks will take time need to persist last week was a write off for all our forwards.

I thought he competed well, fluffed some kicks at goal, needs a bigger tank and body. But I don't have a messiah complex nor do I mark against him due to the hype. He's a good prospect but not there yet.

Beggars belief with some, Dimma is the flinders street station of RFC, all lines lead to him!! Whilst im ready for a change not all issues can be laid at his feet..

Actually dilutes their suggestions and arguments people have on normal issues due to pushing unbalanced views on others..

The deity hype has been ridiculous and placed unreasonable expectations on him. In isolation his performances in this handful of games are no better or worse than the likes of Griffiths or Vickery at the same age. Those guys have played 50-100 games now and are still yet to establish themselves. Liam needs more exposure at the level so we can get a better idea of what he might do. Will an under pressure football dept. allow that? Unlikely.

Exactly right.

Instead of integrating him into the team and giving him the kind of opportunities Vickery and Griffiths have had (for limited output with a handful of decent games), we are going to judge a 202cm beanpole on a 3 game block.

WB - kicked a goal but looked very nervous (understandable when you've been publicly given a 3 week deadline to 'make it')
Ess - just an ok game
Haw - more involved, missed a couple of easy shots in a forward line that struggled from limited opportunity

What odds on him being dumped after his 3 week trial? Pretty likely is my guess. Lets see.

I hope not. He should play out the year. If he's dropped it should only be to give Elton a crack.

I don't understand why so many are hoping for his demise.

Poor kid is at the eye of the sh!tstorm.

If hed strung 3 games in a winning side on the cusp of finals, where he didnt set the world in fire, showed the glimpses he

has, everyone would be pretty happy

Forget the pre deity gags nobbling him, Our chronic talls crisis, precipitated by the demise of tv and grifter, which havnt been greatly exagerrated, is what makes it so tough. Hes playing no1 tall really, in game 5.

So, yeah. Messiahs dont come along when things are going swimmingly.

Im sticking to script

Mcbean lives with Joe Daniher..would be nice to for some of the Daniher ability to rub off on Mcbean.

obviously though neither of them know how to cook..

He lifted his intensity after half time, Tooheys, and he flew for pack marks. I think he might get another go.

What Dimma said was a bit ambiguous - three games after the first one or including the first one? If the former then he should get another game. No harm in it.

I think he's had his three, ant. Either way Beanie has to improve to keep his spot. I think he did that after half time. He lifted and played his best football to date.

Dropping him for Ty would be madness. It's pretty clear that the club and Ty can't get away from each other quick enough.

Carry the kid for the rest of the year. We carried Griffiths for longer, showing less.

And he hasn't been great and he hasn't bee terrible. Glimpses. The finishing is the issue. Got to make his chances count.

OK... I'd give him another game in any case although it's another tough gig against the Giants this week. Hope Manuka suits him.

I wonder..IS the football the same size in AFL as the one in VFL ? The lad has kicked goals in the VFL so why would finishing be the difference ? :headscratch

Can only be explained by the mental demons....kicking for goal with the southern stand full of people is a bit different to kicking for goal with cars driving past at Punt Rd

Massive oval Manuka. Played on it in my younger days.
Very much like the G. Big wings and pockets. Plenty of space for a player like McBean to lead into if he can.

If Lennon had been fit, I'd have dropped McBean for him. Ty doesn't deserve a recall from what I saw at Punt Rd last Sunday.

Unsighted for 3 quarters, snapped a fluke goal and kick another from a chest mark lead. Dropped plenty of other marking opportunities.

If McBean gets one more, so be it but can't see him making it. Poor overhead and in contested marking situations - works/tries harder than Vickery and has a crack in the ruck but after four years in the system, his body shape is pretty poor.

Far out, the season is gone.

We know what we get with Vickery, which ain't much.

Why wouldn't you just play him for the remaining games and let him attack the footy with confidence?

By all means reset the first 22 come October and tell him he needs to work his way into Round 1.

Sheesh, he's only a kid. Perfect time to see what he's got.

I don't really care which team Liam plays in. There are pros and cons for both but in reality we wouldn't have a clue what would suit his development best. I just hope he knows our plans for the future. With a few kids being re-signed today I'd be hoping for news about Liam soon. Then he can settle in for some hard work ready for next year.
