Liam McBean

Reading the write up of the last quarter of the reserves on the Richmond website it suggests that Vickery was the spark for the win, so it appears it will be Out- McBean. In- Vickery :-( I would give McBean till the end of the season. One good quarter in the twos by Vickery does not make up for his last few weeks in the ones, but then again all Conca had to was attend training to get back in the ones!!!

Objectively speaking, he looks overwhelmed in the seniors. No real form in the reserves this year.
Pass.

There'd be enough egg on the floor to cover the MCG after clearning the collective mooch from those armchair experts that monotonously panned the club for neglecting to play this bloke. He s about as likely to make it as Maric is to win the gf sprint ::)

What bothered me was how easily he was pushed aside in contests.

This has been the concern from those who've watched him for quite a while. It's no easier at AFL level. That said he does have skills that say a Vickery doesn't bring. Question is whether it's enough. Jury still out.

I think they were right to be frustrated that he wasn't being given a go to see what he has. Now we know he doesn't have all that much but at least he's getting a few games to show us that.

I agree ToO, i would also add that as some have said he has an aversion to the weights room and hard work, if so thats more concerning than anything else as quite simply if he doesn't gain additional strength (not necessarily bulk) he cant and won't make it...

Very concerning if true. If true i would move him on, if not i would give him another couple of years..

I'm tipping we,ve seen the last of Liam at RFC. He,ll be dropped this week for Ty and delisted come October.

He's taken 2 contested marks in 3 games & kicked 1 goal.

Not exactly setting the world on fire it must be said.

His lack of athleticism stands out. No great leap, no speed for separation. And doubts on his aerobic capacity. Doubt he can improve these enough to become a decent AFL player. Pity, has smarts and skills galore.

You're a hard one Lazarus. McJesus brings you back to life just for you to have a dig at him.

His aerobic capacity isnt actually all that bad, just not used to AFL intensity yet. Needs to be given more time to adjust to AFL, each week in my opinion he is showing more signs.

Don't think he has been developed well at Richmond, shouldve played more games by now and be fully adjusted (or found out) to AFL level.

Development at Richmond = non existent.

Perhaps some at the club were able to predict that Mcbean physical attributes would not transfer to success at AFL level.

So have those people left the club? Why is he being given a go now? Should have been given more opportunities a long time ago. We'd then be in a position now to decide on his future. As it is now he's got just a ahndful of games to transition to the top level and I don't think that's enough time, particularly for a tall.

I want Liam to play till the end of the season and give him a good run. His contests when on the ball in the back half leave a lot to be desired, he seemed to be too easily kept out of the contest for Ceglar and the other ruck mans marks in our forward 50 in last quarter far to easily. Other than that he is a football for sure.

Praise the lord.

Never could understand why he was selected in the first place.

Personally I hope he plays again for at least the next couple of weeks.
He does some good things but footballers don't perform at their best with the axe hovering over their neck.
Liam kicks those goals last week and he's had a solid game. He's usually a good set shot so it's gotta be nerves.
Needs a bit of confidence.
Stick with him. Not much to lose by doing so.

Brother. All he has to do is kick the *smile* goal. It's such a simple game. He missed two sodas. Aaaaaarrgh!

he is being given a go because we are not going all out to win. in previous years we were playing in finals. this year we are not.

i also dont think giving him more games would lead to much higher output now. he needs size and strength.
assuming his effort off the field is ok i expect him to be at punt road again in 2017, regardless of how he performs over the next few weeks.
