There is much in your own post..!
The comparsion in treatment of Vickery and McBean, and the inconsistency of it.
That's the point.

One gets so many many senior chances, the other, well basically zilch.
I have no issue with Mcbean being picked, I have said it over and over again. My issue is that the traits that so many call on Vickery to be dropped for are the same traits that have caused McBean not be to be picked. That's my opinion and based on 3 years of vfl coach's reports that's is the club's opinion as well.

My view is that there are many calling for the replacement of a player because he doesn't put in enough with a player who hasn't been picked because he hasn't put in enough.

There are those who disagree with that characterisation of McBean and that's fine, it's their opinion.

Anyway I suspect we may see both of them next weekend in the same team assuming Griffiths doesn't play.

Don't you see the irony of your post ?
I have no problem with Vickery being criticised if he doesn't put in the effort but I don't quite get the blind defence of a player in the vfl when he is criticised for the same thing.
I freely admit to have only seen him once this year but i have seen him play probably 20 vfl games. His workrate got better last year but before that he was a talented lurker imo, too content to use his considerable talent picking up scraps than playing a team game and using his height and athleticism to get to and impact contests.
There are those who are ok with the way he has played and that's fair enough. I haven't been and clearly neither has the club.
That being said i have no issue with him being picked now but my view is that if he does play and we see a more well rounded McBean it will be because he has been developed as a player in the vfl. I differ from others in that I believe that if he had played 2 years ago he would not have succeeded because you are more likely to get found out at afl level. Probably that is what we are seeing with Vickery at the moment.

No I don't see any irony in my post. When a player has an attitude problem at AFL level and there is an untried player at VFL level who is performing quite well, then you give them a chance. You don't think he will have succeeded if played 2 years ago? How on earth would we know? It seems good enough for other teams to play their tall youngsters. It's not like McBean hasn't performed, he has, and this is his 4th year for god sake. If he's not going to get a game in his 4th year, why keep him? And that I am afraid is what's going to happen. We're going to lose him and be left giving an extended contract to a guy who is selfish and lazy and clearly ahs zero respect for the Tiger jumper.

If McBean's attitude, selfishness, laziness is anywhere near as bad as Vickery then I'd agree but I'm sorry from what I've seen I don't see it. Quite plainly Vickery has to be made an example of, what he has been doing out on the field is simply not acceptable, and imo a massive disrespect to the Tiger jumper.

He's not going well today
1 kick so far in a terrible standard game not suited to tall forwards. Having said that he has been playing up the ground.

Liam is doing well sharing ruck duties with Ivan. He is getting a lot of hit outs. He has done very little around the ground. As said before, it's a bad day for talls. The Tigers VFL side is getting murdered... not a goal on the board at half time.

Hopefully it was Vickery quality, in the goal square flapping his arms up and down yelling out 'give it to me'.

On guesstimation in horrible conditions for a 203cm tall, his stats would be 15-20 touches, 15-20 hitouts, 1 goal 3 (should've got a 2nd) and a handful of tackles. Only one other than Conca to contribute all 4 quarters.

the goal was a cheapy. But he has played alright and I have no doubt he'll get a game against the Suns.

I thought he actually played the ruck role better than Ivan who seemed to be more focused on wrestling the Coburg ruckman. Really impressed me with this development in his game

Reckon he was ok and should be given an extended run but it seems he is not rated by Dimma and co. so he can see him missing again.

I don't think much of Bean but giving him a game in the wet next Sunday won't help to keep him in the side

Worked hard on a crap day in a crap side. Gotta replace Griff for a couple of weeks by the look of his ankle, wasn't impressed by Ivvy's game today n would prefer the Beanie to get some senior game time ahead of Ivvy.
Stuck with Hamster to at least give us some ruck capacity n a mix of Ty n Beanie to give some ruck support n forward structure, not impressed but it's about all we've got.

Liam was pretty solid. Competed well, tackled well, rucked surprisingly well.

I know it was wet today but what do newbies to watching our VFL team think of our delivery?

Richmond way was on show today, just like Friday night. All players drawn to the contest no outside support, the opposition with outriders back and side and options forward. I doubt we had more than a handful of plays where we actually found loose men forward although it opened up a bit in the end.

Fingers crossed he demands a spot with a very good performance today, great time to have a look at him with games against Suns and Brissy

I was a bit underwhelmed. Nowhere near lived up to the hype. Did a few things as expected from a long term player at that level. Didn't demand selection. I think he'll be in this week. Not necessarily on his form today but because we have to be seen to be doing something. It would be a good news story for the media.

Did you expect him to kick 4 goals in the wet playing ruck or something? Because he was involved all 4 quarters around the ground. Will be interesting to see his stats but as I said above, betting around 20 touches and hitouts.

Watched it on the t.v. Yeah I know, soft as, just glad I didn't waste my afternoon sitting out in the rain watching that garbage. Beanie worked hard, I'm probably sort of glad that Soldo got a head knock n we had to push Beanie up into the ruck in support of Ivvy. It means he got to stay involved in the game n made sure he got plenty of work during the game.
Absolute crap game by the team but I'd have the Concareter, Shorty n Beanie in the pipeline for inclusion next week, if nothing else they've earned an opportunity simply on work ethic.
