So because he wasn't at the game he doesn't know how he played? What does he do, wait for McCrae to post his review on the RFC website?

More likely they'd review VFL player performance and selection issues during the week - who's injured, who should be dropped, who could come up from the VFL team to suit a need. Probably not a weekend activity.

Did anyone hear the interview with Dimma this morning on SEN?

When Anthony Hudson asked him about McBean, he couldn't remember how McBean performed in his last VFL match.

How on earth can a senior coach not know how one of his players played in their last match?

Give him his due, probably lucky he knew his name

It sure as hell doesn't make you right by default.

never said it did although I would have thought someone who sees him play lots MAY have a fair chance of forming an informed opinion about a players merits as opposed to posters who admit they only see him play rarely if ever.

Im interested, if you dont watch him play, how do you form your opinion
Mcraes report ? You & Lamby mock the clubs VFL reports so it surely cant be formed from them
Friends reports
Big footy reports
Or do you just sprout his virtues regardless

If I get time tomorrow evening, I will post my opinion of Liams performance based on actually watching him play out @ Coburg tomorrow.

Cheers Taz

It's live on Ch 7 tomorrow so we can all see him.

??

I just established I have seen him play many times. Once this year but around ten VFL games over each of the previous three VFL seasons.

More than enough to build an accurate opinion on the lad.

Sorry Taz, but going religiously doesn't make you right, however convenient you find it when arguing a point.

Let's hope he doesn't stink it up

I would've thought a standard part of a senior coach's weekly schedule would be to watch the full replay of the seconds.

You can bet your ass he,ll be at the game tomorrow

What some are advocating is give this young man a go. Based on the performances of some of Dimma's drones
at both VFL and AFL level, he has more than earned it. What I find gobsmacking, is that a few on here would
rather continue putting up with the crap performances that Vickery provides, because he is a known quantity
and on the rare occasion kicks a few. Reluctant to explore if we have someone better. Someone who may combine
better with others. Someone who just may have more footy nous than those Dimma has a liking for. Someone who
may make the team better. Noone, including Dimma, knows what he can do for the team, until he is given a fair
opportunity.

In the end, if we are proven wrong, then so be it. You will have the ammunition to actually back up your stance and
I am sure we are man enough to admit we were wrong. However, if we proven correct, I hope all of the naysayers have the
courage to admit were wrong.

sorry Rancey, I wasnt quoting you & I disagree anyway
Fair enough Taz. I've had enough of seeing Vickery in a Richmond jumper, makes me sick that someone can put in such little effort and be given opportunity after opportunity to represent our club. So deflating. Hopefully McBean plays well tomorrow, but doubt it will have too much of an effect on selection this week unfortunately.

He was watching the May 14 game vs North Ballarat with Brendon Lade from the balcony outside the Maurice Rioli room.

Well thats your answer then. He couldn't actually see McBean. It was hard to see the play at all after twighlight.

Yeah well I've seen him a couple of times and it's multiple times better than what Vickery is producing in effort. OK let's not elevate McBean but if we're going to be fair then Vickery needs to be dropped to VFL as well. Why does it apply to one player and not the other?
Don't you see the irony of your post ?
I have no problem with Vickery being criticised if he doesn't put in the effort but I don't quite get the blind defence of a player in the vfl when he is criticised for the same thing.
I freely admit to have only seen him once this year but i have seen him play probably 20 vfl games. His workrate got better last year but before that he was a talented lurker imo, too content to use his considerable talent picking up scraps than playing a team game and using his height and athleticism to get to and impact contests.
There are those who are ok with the way he has played and that's fair enough. I haven't been and clearly neither has the club.
That being said i have no issue with him being picked now but my view is that if he does play and we see a more well rounded McBean it will be because he has been developed as a player in the vfl. I differ from others in that I believe that if he had played 2 years ago he would not have succeeded because you are more likely to get found out at afl level. Probably that is what we are seeing with Vickery at the moment.

There is much irony in your own post..!
The comparsion in treatment of Vickery and McBean, and the inconsistency of it.
That's the point.

One gets so many many senior chances, the other, well basically zilch.

Fingers crossed he demands a spot with a very good performance today, great time to have a look at him with games against Suns and Brissy
