Liam McBean

Now now boys... Settle! Remember, rightly or wrongly, all Tiger fans are entitled to their opinion!

Mine is that Liam's obvious ability is constantly being ignored. Next year he will probably go to another club like North who might see him as a potential long term 200+ cm goalkicking understudy to someone like Petrie.

Let's face it... if they can draft Nahas, they can grab Liam!

Can just see it.

He'll be regularly kicking AFL standard goals, and we'll be screaming for a goal kicking tall to
compliment Jack and Griff. Not funny Jan!

So if you are saying that Dimma leans on McRae to write BS player reviews to fool people into supporting the match committee's team selections then that's even more loony.

You've never been game to say you've even watched a VFL game this year which further suggests these bizarre accusations are a figment of your imagination.

No leaning by dimma required. They're all in sync on the richmond way. I've mentioned i haven't been to a game this year but I've seen enough to know vfl reports are slanted and that Liam has been and is still being shafted. What's your theory on the double standards on selection and reviews?

Of course I wouldn't have a clue and don't even know if what you say about him openly looking for another club is true. I wouldn't think it was a gòod idea for any fringe player to announce that so early in a season. It could be wondered if their focus and attitude were in the right place. Also not sure we'd want to develop a player who had indicated he wanted a new home.

I'm not a huge fan of the Bean's work and can see his weaknesses of which there are a few. I just hate the double standards at play when Vickery is stinking it up.
My sense is now that Liam's papers are stamped. I'm not going to lose it over a player who's played bit parts in 2 senior games and is most likely not going to be on the list next season.

Don't you get frustrated at young players not being given a chance? We are #18 in the league at giving games to our draftees (since 2010).

It's a travesty.

So you think Liam is being unfair to poor old Richmond FC then?

Our drafting?

Both... Maybe it's our development thats the issue rather than the actual players we're drafting.

Just gives me the *smile* drafting these players, see them sit in the reserves for 4 years and then they get delisted.

McBean not getting a bracket of games to show us what he can do at senior level is beyond belief.

Hardwick is a stubborn old mule of a coach. Worse, his instincts directly contribute to our ladder position and I hope he is moved on before Liam really is out the door.

I reckon there has to be a reason Carts. I don't think it's stubborness or personal vendetta. Just doesn't make sense but we dont know the facts.

Yeah there's something going on we're not privy to. Sure it'll come out eventually. Otherwise, it's on Hardwick.

No I don't think that at all. Forget it's Liam for a second and think of a hypothetical situation where any player indicates they want out so early in the season. Can you see it could possibly jeopordise their chances. Whether it does in this instance or not isn't known by us but it's far from ridiculous to wonder about it. When did he announce he wanted his manager to look at other options?

The no show in the pre season games is what I find weird. BTW do you have a confession to make. A sad sack banned user reported this post and told me to do a poll on if I was capable of managing this site. I checked the profile. It listed several of his past identities and said Carter too. :hihi

Makes perfect sense.

What's your theory on the double standards on selection and reviews?

Because I haven't seen any VFL games this year I can't comment on reviews, but I will say the PREs who do actually go tend to support the reviews. So no double standards on reviews according to those who actually go to games. Feel free to point out your logic if you disagree.

Double standards on selection? I can see that argument with say, McBean vs our currently underperforming second tall forward. Morris underperformed, was dropped, came back in to the seniors and most here reckon he's back to his best form of 2013ish. Miles was injured/underperformed, dropped, came back and is going awesome. No double standards there.

Now, apart from McBean, who are all the other candidates in the highly performing VFL side who are suffering due to double standards and not getting selected. Name them.

Vickery chaplin hunt griff morris batchelor all get a free ride and if they get demoted only have to show they can tie their shoelaces to get back in. Beanie Astbury Elton Castagna to name a few have shown just as much if not more vfl form but are ignored. Why is chaplin ahead of astbury ? Why is hunt in the side after the worst ever game in history? Didn't even play any good vfl games according to pre posters. Favouritism based on hardwicks love affair with zone drones - where performance is not important but conforming to the "richmond way" is. I stated my opinion is based on seeing beanie in previous years. Nothing has changed.

Astbury? Elton? Scraping the bottom of the barrel there brother. Let me put these names to you - Short, Menadue, C Ellis, Rioli. Are these guys zone drones?

Nothing will change if you live your life on preconceived notions of what happened last year with one player. Who knows, maybe the dreaded VFL coach's reports are all an evil Hardwick conspiracy or are actually semi-accurate.

No the zone drones survive to fight another day. The kids with some potential have made way again. Hardwick keeps reaching down to the bottom of the barrel when he keeps selecting chaplin hunt morris. He loves the sticky remains that he finds down there. Explain why castagna markov mcbean short aren't in the side seeing that we should be developing our list and not scraping around for meaningless wins. Seeing that "the rfc knows best" is your usual stance to everything you can ignore the question.

There really is no point in trying to discuss anything on this, as it all just goes round and round with, from a few people, nothing but nit-picking at other's opinions.

Sums up the thread really. It's like a car crash in here. I just can't look away.

I don't think the selection committee believes that Liam can adequately fill the key forward/ruck position and Vickery plays in.
Have said it for a while that he won't survive unless he develops into these roles but as it stands he's competing with mid sized forwards.
