Liam McBean

Gold Rosie!!
This is a great thread....wouldn't everyone love to see Beanie given a chance....and kick 3-4, maybe 5-6 as a lead up forward ala Gunston.
Trouble is Beanie needs to really kick the door down in the McGoos. Reckon he has been told his role is to lead hard and get to contests. Until he does that, no chocolates. Physically don't reckon it's that important, if your good enough you'll get there. Mental willingness to realise his potential??? Over to you Beanie :spin
Is it possible that, Dimmer & Co know McBean has all the attributes, driving him hard, making him really want to win a senior jumper. "This is your role young fella, do it consistently in the 2's, and a spot in the forward line is yours!!
On under performing jokers like Tyrone, Morris, Griffo, who get games B4 the saviour. The latter two have been very solid in last two weeks, enough said. Tyrone should be Beanie's target, he's gotta want that spot!
C'mon McJesus...just do it! I wanna see this thread go into melt down!!!

Or the constant stick will eventually break him Sash.

Just maybe a little bit of carrot like everyone else on our list gets might get us that 2nd/3rd forward we're after.

Didn’t say he writes them however there is a clear bias towards the players he favours

You seem like a bright young kid so here's how it works. Dimma and the selection committee - rightly or wrongly - pick a bloke to play. The marketing intern is getting leaned on by the boss to come up with a story. Someone says "oh hey, that Stevie Morris guy is actually doing ok in the seniors, do a story that, lay it on thick about how he was dropped but worked hard and came good, human interest innit".

And to prove my point there's a similar story on Miles. http://www.richmondfc.com.au/news/2016-05-24/miles-finds-goalden-touch "Tenacious Tiger midfielder Anthony Miles has added another valuable string to his football bow since returning to senior league ranks after a brief stint in the VFL early this season."

There are also stories on Martin, Cotchin, Martin (again), and Hammer. I guess Martin and Cotchin are Dimma "favourites", hell they are also my favourites and I reckon they should be yours too. There are no stories on how crap the Bean is and that he'll never ever ever be selected in the seniors.

Oh look, a story on Lloydy's goal after the siren. CONSPIRACY? Many here argue that Dimma hates Lloyd as he played him as sub and took forever to recognise his value. Nah, it was a kick after the siren so it was a GOOD STORY.

When you think it's a media conspiracy played by the puppet-master that is Damien Hardwick, it's more likely just the way that the "journos" who write fluff for the RFC site work.

Correct. They are supposed to be feel good stories

So based on the amalgam of issues on Mcbeans VFL form he needs to:

Get to more contests
Have an impact
Not wait for the ball to come to him
Not die off in the 2nd half
Work harder in the contest
Connect with other forwards
Have a stronger 4 quarter contribution

Which is all very well, I get it but.....why isn't Ty marked to the same stabdards? He fails in all these aspects as well. For me it's not so much McBean has to get a game it's the double standards afforded to players Dimma clearly favours.
Only possible difference I can see is that Liam is failing to meet the requirements at a second grade standard whilst Ty is failing to meet requirements at the elite standard.
One could easily see a reason to demote Ty from elite standard to second grade standard, but one could also see no reason to promote Liam from the second grade to the elite if he's failing to meet the required standards for second grade.
Maybe we need another mobile tall to pull the finger out n perform strongly in all aforementioned aspects at reserves level so we can promote him instead.

Gawd I luv a good farce, so much angst, vindictiveness n self righteous expertise.

McBean and a mid 20ck's draft pick??
Nah, he's been(haha) pigeon holed. Tyrones spot.
Could've been(haha again) traded, delisted over last couple of years, Dimma and Co are showing faith. They know the boys got it, just gotta show it

Nice try. Could have saved your time though with all the irrelelevant stuff you posted. You telling me there's no double standards at the selection table and in turn the reserves player performance reviews? How do you explain beanies constant non selection after constant bags of 4 and 5 goals yet dimmas zone drone mates need to have a semi decent game to get selected.

I didn't notice too many reports from those at the games suggesting he should be promoted.

I suggest you look through the posts in the many games beanie kicked bags in. Not just this year also.

I reckon we can get a good idea from what I posted. PREnders who have kindly given us reports of their live experiences seem to support my feeling that the coaches want more of Liam. Do you disagree with what they say?

While I am a bit late, I didn't want to ignore your direct question Rosy.

I think what they often say is overly negative or overly positive, depending upon if the stick or carrot is the implement of the week. I do also think they have an agenda to boost a player, for one of two main reasons, and this impacts the validity of the reports that come out, from the club that is.

As for reports by PRE's finest, I haven't read many that go into details of if players made the right decision, executed a skill well and other micro level areas. As you would expect, and I enjoy reading, the reports are more about the macro level game observations. I hope I got those around the right way...

In short, I don't think any of the reports 'put out there' go very far in establishing if players are ready for the 1sts except in the 'attitude' level, and even then there can be no understanding of why a player's attitude is 'off'. This is, to me, a really important part of sports performance that we don't, as outsiders, get an insight into.

Goal kicking obviouly isn't a real issue and this year's form is the most relevant in regards to senior seletion.

I'm not sure you answered it. I think the examples I gave make it pretty clear Liam has things the club want him to work on.

X2

There are no guarantees, just give the guy a sustained chance and this 'what if' conversation ends, one way or another.

My gut feel with McBeam is that he will be kept on for 1 more year. IF Ty goes at years end, then opportunity is truly his. I hope he is given a number of games in the seniors to truly see if he can cut it.

Won't be playing this week at the top level as Dimma stated that 'Ty will play', so another week in the Ressies for Jesus McBean.... Apparently Tyrone is pivotal to our forward structure. Only other possibility would be if he came in for Short however Rioli will be back in so I doubt it.

What does that even mean? Serious question. To me it seems beanie moves around too much and they much prefer the static vickery, maric and even chaplin in the forward line. If that's the case why don't they tell beanie to stand still so the ball is kicked on his head. We are run by amateurs.

What message does it send to the playing group that you can laze around, not chase, not work hard, pick up 2 touches and still get a game the next week because you're a Dimma favourite?

I assume it means having a tall down there attracts a tall backman and he's probably told to stay in a certain area ie away from Jack. Several "minor" structural aspects I reckon. I'd rather have a forward taking marks and kicking goals.

Sends a positive message to the Dimma favourites

Beanie is tall and am sure he can stand still if he had to and kick goals. If anything he'll sttract 2 defenders.
