Liam McBean

I know where you are coming from, but there isn't to many averaging 3 goals a game around.

Just replying to Sin's figures of 18 goals in 6 games for Vickery.

In today's football, 3 goals a game is elite.

BTW that's what Beanie is going at last 13 games playing in the worst side in the comp.!

He didn't overstate it. Can't argue though that when required Hardwick preferred Chaplin over Mcbean.
I am not arguing against it and all I said was that it happened once. What were McBean's stats the week before, first round of the vfl ? 6 possessions and 2 goals, hardly screaming out to be picked.

I repeat for the umpteenth time. This year he has had chances to stand up and hasn't taken them

The key issue here is that Beanie is unquestionably a better forward than Griffiths Chaplin, Morris, Hammer, Maric and Gordon (very low bar BTW) all of whom have taken a forward spot before him the last two years.
Add Lennon who was really the guy keeping him out in the last part of 2015 because we played with 2 key forwards and Lennon as the lead up half forward.

Dusty, Baloo's business card reads "$hitcanner of kids, defender of Dimma, dross and drones."

He is just trolling to type. Like the Baron said best to ignore.

When you can show me a kid I've sh!t canned that didn't get cut that same year, you may have a point. Until then that regular throw away of yours is just re-enforcing my point that you bruise very easily.

Sin. First. I just flatly reject the he has to play well this week to play. If a guy has proved he can play time after time and recently (ie last 13 games), he has ticked that box.

The question is will he be in the right physical and mental condition to play firsts. I guarantee you that if Liam is picked he will be.

Your second point, I argued in the middle of last year that kicking 10 goals a game wasn't going to cut it. Dimma persisted and it cost us wins against Freo and west Coast.

Finally he brought in Lloyd and Lennon. i wanted Mcbean in but I had no problem with Lloyd and Lennon because they are natural forwards and we only had one, Jack in the side. With Lloyd and Lennon in they had a purple patch where they averaged close to 20 goals a game for a month.

We all know Dimma's EF brain fart in dropping two of his three natural forwards for the game.

So yeah, while Liam was stiff and should have played rd 23 at least, you could argue the "natural forward' spots were covered.

Not so this year and IMO Beanie is more important 'structurally' than either Lloyd or Lennon as he is more a creater than either.

You can flatly reject all you like Lamby but that is what he is being asked to do. I recall the statement after his 5 goal haul earlier from the vfl coach..he has to back it up.

That's what he has been asked to do rightly or wrongly and to be honest if he is good enough he will do it. Right now he isn't good enough.

We can go around and around about what is fair and what isn't but it's all irrelevant. He has to stand up and play well. We are playing a lower ranked team in North ballarat this week and there is no better opportunity for him than this one. ( probably Griffiths and vickery will kick 5 each now ;D)

disagree entirely, bloke hasnt been given a fair go while other spanners have been gifted games year in year out . End of story..

I think that has been well and truly answered and I don't intend to go over it all again.

But that wasn't my point.

Unfortunately this is true. HE has to back it up. No one else. Those same conditions do not apply to others just bean. That is what is so frustrating.

(Coupled with watching clearly not up to it players continually picked in the AFL side)

Was the week the beanster slotted 5 the same week Miles played VFL?

Coincidence? Or did an injection of midfield quality allow the beanster to do his thang?

And if so*, how do we expect him to "back it up" when it's back to spuds who aren't capable of delivering the ball into a forward line at AFL standard? (Or at VFL standard for that matter)

Put him in the seniors for a few weeks and watch him blossom.

*if not, put him in the seniors anyway. Or explain to me why Griffiths deserves to be there instead of him whilst keeping a straight face.

I reckon everyone on our list should get a run of four weeks in the seniors between now and the end of the season so a proper assessment can be made.

The generic argument that his form hasn't warranted selection I present you One Legged, One Dimensional Shaun Hampspud and PEAHEART Griffiths!

........

Some keep referring to Liam's stats. A case could be made for both the players you mention having had better stats than him last weekend and they were playing at a higher level. I wonder how long it would take for Liam to cop the personal insults and bagging others cop if he doesn't live up to expectation.

Really? When I have seen people mention a stats comparison it has been in the spirit of 'why does X get a go when Liam doesn't after having better stats when in the VFL' kinda thing? Also a bit disingenuous to base anything, for any player comparison, on a given week when either side of the argument under performed.

This thread really does go round and round in circles. It is like getting onto one of those big round-a-bouts in Europe and knowing where you need to get off, but not knowing quite how to.

Has Griffiths EVER kicked a bag of 5 in VFL??? and then been asked to back it up? let me guess... NO!!!

double standards...
