Jay Schulz [Merged]

In a disappointing result, Jay was clearly our best player - and as a previous poster has alluded - actually seems to have improvement in him still (unlike many other players).

Well done Jay - keep it up!

Very good game from Jay today. Just about our best in a losing side.
Some thrilling tough marks, good workrate and skills. a guy who can do a job at CHB and CHF is more than handy.
Seems to still have some improvement left in him after all.

Hope his detractors were taking note. ;)
good to see u back on the bandwaggon again oldie! you went off him for a little while. I to hope he finally becomes the player his early ''potential'' showed. I'm glad we didn't trade him. Imagine him starring at port, they'd be laughing at us even more after Rodan going there and doing well.

If he was our best player then book the caravans now ferals. Should have been Kellawayed when his drunken moment cost them $500,000. They were negligent in their duty rejecting Port Adelaide's offer instead they will probably sign him to a 5 year deal.

Here hear Laff.
Its was a criminal offence by Miller to not take pick 25 for this chump!!!
If Elmer was in Singapore he would of received a public caning of 20 lashes with this blunder!!!!

Won't pass judgement until the Schulz expert Bill James posts.
I am in shock. Last year I thought Schulz and Moore were two that would be kept only because of our lack of mature talls.

I like what I see of Moore in his last 4-5 games (Coburg last year and Tiges this year.)

To be honest I liked sarges game last week in the backline better than todays game. I think he is better suited to the back line because he has a bit of pace and is better when someone shows him the way to the ball. I just don't think he presents on his own lead enough in the forward line, he is either jumping into Richo's packs or leading somewhere off my TV screen.

I would remind you that I had a moment of weakness in Sarges favour after the first four rounds of 2007, so I will reserve judgement.

actually that silliness from jay made us an extra 300K on top of the TAC 500K, AFG signed up at the time for 2 yrs at 800K a year, the deal now i believe is 1 mill+ a year...

Yep that was a negative turned into a positive very quickly

BTW AFG should do some ads with some of the tigers boys to let everyone know that they are the successful Australian Finance Group and not the struggling Allco Finance Group Ltd

Yeah it has confused some angry investors who have been calling up Australian Finance Group with death threats
as well as slashing some employee's tyres

I think the problem is that Allco's ASX index is AFG

Agree ToO. I've been waiting two years for him to play like he did today. Easily our best player........ only one to do plenty right and make minimal errors. His workrate was high which was the most pleasing part.

What he has to do now is back it up next week against the Pies.

Well done Sarge :clap

It's not that Sarge isn't presenting his own leads or jumping into Richo's packs. Our dumb, tunnel visioned mids are the ones to blame, who only see Richo, Richo, Richo. If they lifted their bloody eyes & actually took a fraction of a second longer to pick the better option, they would usually find that Sarge has offered that better option.

I thought Schulz played well yesterday but suggestions of BOG are a bit OTT. He had what 10, maybe 11 possessions?

I think it is absolutely critical this year that at least two of Schulz, Polak, Hughes or Reivoldt succeed in defence. We need one to play CHB and one to play on the taller third talls. I have no problem with Schulz and Polak swinging between FF and CHB as the situation demands but I thought Wallace missed and opportunity yesterday to send Hughes down to the back line for the last quarter, the game was gone anyway and he would have benefitted from playing on Thompson or even Jones for a short period.

I thought Schulz played fantastically yesterday. He lead well and was ignored on a number of occasions when players went to Richo even though he had a number of Roos on him. He showed courage taking those pack marks. He earned his spot for next week. HE has shown us that he can play back and forward.
