Heck he may even click next season as he's still only 22.
I hope so but if he doesn't, then at the end of '08 he'll likely be delisted or traded of for peanuts and I won't be arguing for him to be retained.

Still clinging to hope hey oldie.......actually I agree with you on this one. Whilst he has been disappointing at the moment there is still no one better to take over if Richo suffers a long term injury. Yes we have Hughes, Jack, Pattison and co, but at the moment Schulz is still better credentialled to hold down a KPF spot if we are hit by injury. However if Hughes, Jack or someone else starts to put their hand up he would have cause to worry just a tad.

Cheers gus.
Add to the fact that we've lost Gaspar along with the likely delists of talls Kingsley, Hall, Knobel & Moore then it isn't hard to make an argument for a seasoned body like Schulz to stick around for one more season. Although I'm sure plenty will make an argument against it.. ;D
Absolutely right Oldie. Should be given every chance to show what he is capable of while playing in a team that looks like it can win. By the way Kingsley has a two year contract and will be with us next year unless he is paid off.

Thankfully not true momentai. Miller's on the record as saying it's 12 months.

I thought it was just a year so doubt Kent will be with us Shulz will be unless traded so *smile* is gone surely Hall & Knobal will be out the door so I think the others who get delisted would be smaller players perhaps Meyer & Moore because we have plenty of that type.

Come back to me the day Schulz gets 23 possessions, 16 marks and 3 goals in the SECONDS and then we can start talking about Schulz as a potential replacement for Richo.

Probably the best quote regarding JAY SCHULZ AND RICHO..............................................EVER

I heard Miller categorically state that as well. Be unbelievable if he was telling porkies and KK had another year.

Poor old Jay.

Richo kicks 3 goals from 9 attempts. Add to that the 4 or so times he gave away a stupid in the back free kick, and the other 2 times he went for the mark one handed. That makes 3 goals for the 15 times or more that he had the ball kicked to him.

Do you reckon Jay has ever had the ball kicked to him 15 times in the one game? And if he did, do you think he might then be a good chance to kick more than 3 goals?

LOL at this post Linus; er chance yes, probability - marginally above zero.

I don't think I mentioned Schulz, or anybody, replacing Richo. My point was merely that nobody will really get much of a chance to show anything while he is such a big focus.

But I guess you are right, my bad, we should keep looking for a Richo replacement. Now let me see, who is coming up in next years draft. Any future Richos at draft picks 1, 17, 18 or onwards???

Browny didn't have any trouble get it kicked to him along side Richo. Jay doesn't get it kicked to him because he doesn't get to places where it can be.

I have been an extemley optomistic fan of Jay for a while, watched him all summer ,where he is clearly our best field kick of the big fellla's as well as showing great pace an vice like grip when marking .I also watched him very closley at Coburg last year where he began to dominate as he should at the lower level,I also spoke to Jay at the start of the season an noticed a great maturity in the way he talked in comparison to previous season's.
But for whatever reason he continue's to have little impact on games, like Danny Meyer if he fails to make it at Richmond the coaching staff should be very dissapointed in not been able to get somewhere near the most out of these boys

What are you saying ? Are you saying the coaching staff are no good ? Who do you think we should sack ?

Thats a nice burley trail your leaving ;D

Would you not agree that with the talent of those two boys we should be seeing a lot better performances, especially at Vfl level.

If a guy like Howat can have an impact on Afl games buy just learning how to work hard or Dean Wallis can even play a senior game surley professional coaches can make a highly taleneted kid believe he is up to it

The problem is they dont have the inherent drive that someone like Howat or Wallis have/had. They no doubt want to do well, but they are not as driven to do well as many others and their talent levels are not so high that they can get away with it.

Redders you are so smug.
Jay is a good mark and kick a little slower than I would like but makes up for that with a touch of meaness. He is a country boy who moved across to Melb at what 17 and has had to face up to the publicity etc of being a first rd pick etc in a very publicity shy club ::), without immediate family around him.

I like him. And he has played his 50 odd games in the club which appears possessed of the weakest culture, of all clubs in the competition. We are turning this around and part of it means falling away on the scoreboard as we focus on our younger players. Get with the programme.

Totally agree with that sentiment CC.
Again I think it's confidence with Schulz and for whatever reason it's shot to bits currently. :-\
I don't doubt he wants to do well. You only had to see the look of complete devastation on his face in the rooms after his last senior appearance. :(
Call him lazy or mentally weak if you like but Jay does have talent.
Why it's not happening for him has me beat.
He's going backwards when he should be going forwards. :

Should have the opportunity to play with Browny, Richo and emerging talents like Bling, Deledio and Jacko. He is still a youngster.

As I said to you an Evo in the pre season I would personally take a little less talented Polo any day of the week over a Danny Meyer for that exact reason.

If Nick Ohern can make it in the world of professional sport Jay an Danny should be AFL stars,Sheeds would have them starring ;)

You left Hird out of that equation.
The leadership at our club is *smile* weak.
No way a leader like Hird would let these guys waste their talents. He'd be right into them.

I may be wrong ToO but I just think we may be missing the simple things as understanding a kids mental attitude weather he needs his tyres pumped up or deflated, strips torn off him or a surprise senior selection or demotion,Just seems at times we are a little too black an white in our decisions rather then the individual understandings.

Do we think the Peveril's,Foley's,Cox's an Co all only ended up on senior list's through just hard work ,I think not a lot of the time Im sure hard work had a big bearing on it but simply the right advise or quiet word in the year turned a lot of these career's around

Not entirely sure what you are saying there CC but I have little doubt that the lack of on field leadership and outstanding role models that are at other clubs in the likes of Hird, Archer etc. does have some bearing at least on the performances of those around them. Particularly on impressionable youngsters coming through.
We haven't had a type like that at Richmond for a long long time...someone who is absolutely respected by their peers for all the right reasons and has also achieved success at the highest level.
We still don't and I think that plays some part in us not getting the most out of some of these kids.
