Agree ToO we need genuine leader's but simply we need genuine Champions as well.

Also ToO I noticed the other day a lot complained about the "arrogance" Dan Connors showed the other day when he pushed the ball in his opponents face,I agree unsiciplined acts can be costly but I thought good on him we need guys who think they are better then there opponents an do crack the *smile* when beaten.

Dan is a ripper young man by the way as Missing would agree when I introduced them ;D.

We need a Chad Cornes Arrogant ,Nasty ,Classy an refuses to loose on the field but a very humble down to earth guy off it

Basically what I was saying is that a lot of guys get a kick in the guts when not National drafted but learn from it take it on the chin and end up making it from a variety of reasons,Jay an Danny have just about all the nessesary quality's but just havn't acheived what they should have yet

Gifted too many games early(05,06) due to lack of genuine quality talls at the club? ??? :don't know
Lack of depth does not make one hungry..

Wallace has finally tried to rectify that recently but a may have cost us a couple of kids who should have made it otherwise.
Hard to say if this is the case or not. As I said I'm not sure what it is. :spin

I think genuine leadership and champions within the playing group has a lot to do with it.

*smile* is deadset running out of reasons for not putting it together.

He had his best preseason, he started off OK and was on target to kick 30-40. Then when he gets dropped you would hope that he would tear the VFL apart not stink it up like the south end of north travelling donkey.

He has done nothing to earn a call up to the big time and I am caught happy to have sit there and rot and not be given games untill he earns them.

A push for the side of tomorrow today is a good thing but blokes have to earn a right to be part of the future.

Welcome to the Doghouse, I am sure Danny M can make room for you.

Thats a nice burley trail your leaving ;D

Would you not agree that with the talent of those two boys we should be seeing a lot better performances, especially at Vfl level.

If a guy like Howat can have an impact on Afl games buy just learning how to work hard or Dean Wallis can even play a senior game surley professional coaches can make a highly taleneted kid believe he is up to it

The problem is they dont have the inherent drive that someone like Howat or Wallis have/had. They no doubt want to do well, but they are not as driven to do well as many others and their talent levels are not so high that they can get away with it.

As I said to you an Evo in the pre season I would personally take a little less talented Polo any day of the week over a Danny Meyer for that exact reason.

If Nick Ohern can make it in the world of professional sport Jay an Danny should be AFL stars,Sheeds would have them starring ;)

As much as I love a good golf analogy CC, please keep em coming, I don't think Jay belongs in the same catagory as Danny. You have spent plenty of time at training and I asume VFL games, do you really buy the "jay is lazy" propaganda???

I thought he was OK on the weekend with Coburg, not good enough for a recall to the seniors as Jack was much better, but he played a half a game in the forward line for 2 goals 3. Was OK down back but gave away a couple of frees.

Everybody on this site loves the black and white opinions, not many shades of gray. Danny was dead average on the weekend, but he tagged Roach in the first half and he barely got a kick. When Danny went down forward in the third quarter Roach had about 5 possessions in about 5 minutes, so he must have been doing something right.

You left Hird out of that equation.
The leadership at our club is *smile* weak.
No way a leader like Hird would let these guys waste their talents. He'd be right into them.

Like he was with Damien Cupido. ;D

Schulz has ability and Meyer has all the tools to be a star ............................. BUT

Neither have shown enough to warrant guaranteed contracts for next year for mine.

This feels weird for me to say cos i have been a huge supporter and a big wrap for Meyer, i'd just like to see the kid get 3-4 games on a HBF to free him up and see what he can do as opposed to running around in circles from FP to bench. I feel Wallet already has him delisted along with Hartigan and Hall.

I already at the point with Schulz where i'd happily trade him whats it been at seasons end - 5 years for no result and no real improvement. I'd happily move Jay on to Adelaide, Port, Dogs or Melbourne as i reckon these 4 clubs would be takers for him.

No question about Schulz's ability, but he does need to show more.

One thing that would not help is the shabby treatment he receives from Terry Wallace re: gametime and rotation off the bench. It's little wonder his confidence is down - I can't remeber how many times I've seen him benched after kicking a goal or a goal assist.

Danny Meyer is in the same boat, and Daniel Jackson was another recipient of shabby treatment by Wallace until this year when he has virtually demanded more gametime with his improved performances. Yet certain "favourites" continue to get gametime regardless of how ordinary their performances are.

Bottom line - Schulz needs to perform, however Wallace is not helping in any way.

Funny how other players play well with the way Wallace rotates them. And against Melbourne Wallace was much better than Daniher in his game day coaching. And who are these favorites? Krakuer has been in and out and looks like its the end for him, Tivendale has played pretty well in certain games but he has also been dropped.

Kane Johnson. Richard Tambling and Kayne Pettifer spring to mind as players who have had very "ordinary" patches at times yet are gifted games by Wallace.

As you correctly say, Tivendale and Krakouer have only recently been taken to task for their poor performances and would have fallen into this category also.

Don't know about favourites BladeTiger. Reckon this year Wallace would have liked to axe 80% of the team, particularly after the Geelong game. I think you always get a chance with Wallace but he does make his mind up and then its up to the player to unmake it. Average performances in the twos don't change a head coaches mind if he's decided you aren't up to it.

Re Johnson and Pettifer - they are senior players. We don't have senior replacements so they are expected to work through their injuries and find form. Tambling is different. He has repeatedly this year shown patches of very good form - what you would expect from a young player in dire need of conditioning and experience.

I do agree though Tivva has probably been axed more times than he has really deserved and the kid gloves have come off Krak. Krak has shown courage, determination but not enough ability this year.

Good points. Would be interesting though if Schulz was given a few weeks of uninterrupted gametime to see if he really has the goods or not.

But I guess you are right, my bad, we should keep looking for a Richo replacement. Now let me see, who is coming up in next years draft. Any future Richos at draft picks 1, 17, 18 or onwards???

Geez I hope so. Looking forward (pardon the pun) I think a key forward is where we might be lacking in the future. I really don't think Schulz has the desire or footy smarts to make it. He certainly has a good kick and can take a grab but unfortunately its not enough. I have been encouraged by Hughes, he is still very inconsistent but has 2 years on Schulz and has only played 8 games. I am currently pinning my hopes on Hughes. Then there's Rewioldt who I have no doubt will be a class player in the future, however, there are no guarantees and there is a question about whether he will make a better backman than forward. We really need another 1 or 2 to come up the ranks, or look for a more proven (or ready)player in the way we have been able to pickup Simmonds and Polak over the last couple of years.
