Have a feeling Cleve will be dropped

Mate if Cleve gets dropped ahead of KK, ill go off my head, Cleve did ok against Freo and KK cant kick more than 35meters and is sh!t scared to go in.

Me too Astute. Couldn't happen, surely?

Would be a disgrace if Hughes got dropped.KK should have already played his last game with the tigers.

I think Hughes deserves a senior game this week. :hihi

Not a lot of mentioning of Schulz on the Schulz thread ???

B1

hughes should be in. no kk!

shcultz has not impressed me this year so far, but could be good trade bait later in the year. although we said this about fiona and he's playing quite well at the aints'.

Browny said on SEN last night that Hughes is doing well, but still lacks the strength to play seniors week in week out at this stage IHO

It's a fair enough comment.

ATM we have:

J.Bowden at #1 back (bit light for the job but very strong for his size.)
G.Polak alternating between #2 and #3 back. Physically not strong. At best.

In the wings:
L.McGuane- pencil.

Our 1, 2 and 3 backs are underweight.

Maybe:
JON- undersized.
Jack- very slim ATM.
The Steamee- non-contact player. Not ready anyway.

Why not?
The Sarge- strong for his size and aggressive.

Looking back, the Sarge should have started the season at CHB with Joel at #1 back. That would free Polak to play his LMID role. Wallet started the season with McGuane in the #2 back role and he didn't come up. TW got it wrong. Fair enough to take the chance but he didn't fix it when the results came in.

So why doesn't he give him a go at CHB? Because the Sarge is lazy? TW played P.Bo for a year. Why is JS's laziness any worse? He puts his body on the line.

Because he's determined to make a forward of him? Fair enough but I think he's dreamin'.

I suspect that the coach don't like him (maybe he's a good judge). I have a strong feeling that Jay is fully on the outer. It smells like scapegoating. I dunno.

It sounds good in theory Jack. But you only had to watch Miller(a second rate player himself) towell Jay up last week. You've watched VFL footy,it's not like forwards are getting it lace out every time.Jay was was beaten in the contest,on the lead and on the ground. To put it mildly,he floundered.

He just isn't a backman.God knows if hes even a viable forward.

On the other hand Jack Rooey played there on Sunday, and looked right at home.

Once you get into the C class players, if a bloke is strictly a forward, you punt him. No maybes.

If he's too important to defend, *smile* him off.

Without wishing to make too many excuses for Jay, who is a bludger, the Miller slaughter doesn't surprise me. Miller is a running player (weak in the air and soft on the ground). Jay is slow. His nightmare matchup. Poor delivery into the forward line will advantage Miller, a small.

Jay cannot match up on smalls. Miller would have got a small defender at AFL level and, as usual, wasted everyone's time.

I think Jay's been told that he's got so many weeks. He may be demoralised, looking forward to the return to SA 9or wherever) or just no good.

On Jack, he looks like a CHB to me. Still, most footballers look natural at CHB.

Or just plain footy-dumb? There's mounting evidence! Under some pressure now and Jay is trying to think his way through a contest - and that is his problem. I doubt he has a footy brain. His instincts were better. Probably a great bloke to have drink with though ;D

Thats cos CHB is one of the easiest positions to play. ;)

I'm glad you said it, Pharace.

I have been of that opinion for a long time but I try not to knock our players too much.

I feel Jay will be getting a DCM around about September.

Jay isn't slow but no endurance. That is why he only makes it to about 5 contests per game and the rest of the time is walking.

I've seen this a bunch of times, Diagoro-- Schulz in the van, Richo out of position (behind) the ball in the air. Richo beats him for pace and altitude. First gets front position then jumps where the Sarge aint never bin.

Richo- there are few Olympians who can beat him for athleticism and few U12s who aren't smarter footballers.

To play key forward you need to be an exceptional athlete. The Sarge aint.

Agree craig. Provided the other side doesn't have a CHF. We can talk about that at length- the impostors who excel when the other side doesn't have a CHF. Trent Croad. Lance Whitnall.

Pharace, I've seen Jay Schulz handball (while blindsided and being tackled) to a bloke 20m away who had just been surreptitiously interchanged. With his wrong hand. And concussed. And sick with the 'flu. And listening to the trots on a transistor radio, having done his mum's dialysis money at the races that very day, and out of form. And having read damning posts of his performance on PRE. And lonely.

And you tell me he lacks intelligence. Yeah, I s'pose. Usually.

Why would they have signed him up for a 2-3 yr deal last year? The only way he will receive a dcm is if he is traded.

Love your stuff Jack. Any chance Melb might accept a trade of their No 2 D/P for both Pettifer and Schulz? Would we?

That was then.

Has he shown any sign of improvement in that time?

I don't think so - but maybe I've missed something.

He's been in the system, what - 5 years?

Surely he should be shaping up a lot better than what he is doing?
