Jay Schulz [Merged]

Those grants are pretty tough to get. But I'm working on it. ;D Fair dinkum. :hihi

If he can't work it out as a forward then he should be tried, for a lengthy period down back. One thing in his favour is his accuracy. When he did play down back for us last year before Hamil fixed him up I was impressed with his kicking accuracy to hit a leading player when coming out ofdefence.

Interesting to compare the performance of the Sarge to Port's list of handy talls.

Thurstans, D.White, Chaplin, Pettigrew. None of these is really a different class of player to Schulz.

White and Thurstans have each been pretty slow to get to the (ordinary) level they are at. Port has not punted them though. The club has been patient.

And BTW I imagine clubs have approached the Power about the first two, if not all of them. There is no way a young KPP goes for anything less than a 2RDP.

Would have expected a better season from the big Yowie this year, no major injuries.
Has been disappointing and not done a lot at Coburg the last couple of weeks.
If he lifts his performance in the second half of the year maybe another contract. If he languishes at the Burgers his travel papers would likely be stamped.

Put him in the backline on the bigger blokes so Bowden can be let loose. A lot of the young blokes can't operate in a forward line with Richo in it because the midfielder's are so conscious of him. Don't expect much from our young forwards until Richo retires by which time they should be 21 or 22 and ready to fire.

Signed until end of '08 TM.
Doesn't mean he can't be traded for a late pick. I've been hanging out for the big fella to get an injury free run and turn little cameos into more consistent efforts.
He's gone backwards this year, Klan has passed him and with Browny coming back it's one less forward spot available for Schulz, Steamer and Jack to fight over.
With short lists nowadays it's very easy to find the AFL career over before it really started and I'm getting a horrible feeling that Jay needs to get his arse into gear soon.

You're kidding aren't you. On what basis?

Schulz has struggled but Kingsley has been a disaster.

*smile* hasn't been setting the world on fire but KK has been a monumental disaster, OUT OUT OUT!

Patience, hmmmmmmmmmmmm, haven't heard of that, is there a silent Q in that? As a Richmond supporter, despite decades of the team trying to force it into me, patience is not one of my virtues. If a player isn't pressing for all Australian by the age of 21 sack him

With Browny back, KK should be dropped. No room for Schulz at this stage, had his opportunities, may find it hard to get another from here. Hughes performed very encouragingly last week and deserves to keep his spot.

Averages this year
Hughes - 10 disposals, 1.5 goals
Schulz - 7 disposals, 1.3 goals
Kingsley - 10 disposals, 0.7 goals

Hughes by a short half head, but hardly definitive. One sure thing, Kingsley has to go. But I wouldn't be writing off Sarge just yet.

In fact take out the Geelong game where he got injured in the first quarter and he averages 8 disposals and 1.5 goals, not much difference between him and Cleve.

Hughes Out Brown In, Betcha!

Doubt it.
Hughes will get another game. Well he'd better ahead of KK. :p
Polo will get dropped because of injury IMO allowing Brown to come in.
Unfortunately I think Krakouer will get another chance too.

Im betting that Wallet will go all out to win this week especially with Neitz out and i reckon Tivendale will come in with Brown and Kingsley will get another game as Hughes was a late inclusion last game.

Have a feeling Cleve will be dropped and Polo out with injury.

If Krakouer comes in maybe Howat or Edwards will cop it but i hope they persist with Shane.

The key difference is Hughes is in his second year, Schulz is in his 5th! He's a nothing player Schulz; just has very little or no impact on the vast majority of games he's played in. Doesn't want it enough; lacks intensity. Trade bait if I've ever seen it, although it wouldn't be a huge carrot.

Mate if Cleve gets dropped ahead of KK, ill go off my head, Cleve did ok against Freo and KK cant kick more than 35meters and is *smile* scared to go in.
