He was ok. The usual mixed bag IMO. Some very good, some not so.
Thought Grimes and Vlastuin were clearly better players on the day.
Batchelor is a handy depth player for what we have but I still think he's outside the fringe of our best 22.

I quite like Batchelor but think with Rance, Astbury and Chaplin, it will be between him and Grimes fighting for a spot with Grimes winning out because of his ability to play tall and small. Its good to have some depth.

Agree. I keep finding myself shoehorning him into my prospective best 22. If he got the ball another 4 or 5 times again, he'd be super important.
Funny I did the same, hence earlier comment. As Atarurk said he's beefed up. I think we are still too thin/weak down back. He adds some beef. Have him in the 19 - 22 bit rotating through the back. Although needs to get a haircut ASAP.

Agree, he does a good job for a undersized kpp. It's a shame that he's not a few centimeters taller, as he doesn't have much pace. I still think he is definitely worth a 2 year deal, at the very least as a depth player.
Won't make it as an undersized KP. Hope his training with Apollo can give him the mobility to play on the third talls or even smaller. If he hit a few like Morris would make it interesting.

Also a pity he is slow, fumbles too often and panics when under the pump. If he plays rd 1 load up on the blues

Reckon Batch has improved this off season and it still won't be enough to win a spot in the 22.

Will need to keep improving if the likes of Lennon are going to get games on a back flank.

It's most likely to be either him or Grimes fighting it out for that medium defender spot. Not a bad back up to have.

Can't find a spot for him n the back half, I'd neally rather play one of the kids with pace to add something down there, Grimes is a mile better 3rd tall

If Rance, Chaplin and Astbury are all fit Grimes and Batchelor are competing for the 4th tall spot. which doesnt really exist, so they are competing to be medium running half backs, or small back pockets. i think Grimes has him well covered in both those areas.

Astbury's injury may give Batch a chance tho.

Jake might be replacing 'the snake for 'the stingray. With Astbury ruled out reckon he's certain to be in the 22 come Thursday.

Your joking?

Batch is a quality defender.

Showed a bit too this Nab challenge also.

I'm expecting Batchelor to play a third tall role, but not compete with Grimes who I'm guessing will play "small".

Ha ha ha that's pretty funny. Welcome to the forum Jake and please stop falling over and crapping yourself when one on one

Thought his first season with RFC was pretty passable for a first-year player, and I did think at the time that the Club had found itself a half-decent player. Yet he seems to have tread water since and not shown as much as I thought with a few years in the system. 2015 is definitely make-or-break with Batchelor. A poor or sub-standard season will see him delisted at season's end. Would enjoy see him have a crack and make a go of a continuing career at AFL level, but I am slowly arriving at the position that time will tell .....

Disagree Bullarto. He did look lost for a while, probably whilst he learnt a new role.

I think he's underestimated here. Could surprise a few, and think he's gets blamed for being too slow because the team is overall. Plays taller than he is. Fringe 22 player.
