He was woeful again so right back at ya! Have a look at his effort in the first minute when Jones kicks their first goal.

Could pick out one moment of every player and conclude they had a bad game. Thought Batch did his job well, nothing to flashy, just solid in defence. There's no doubt we have a bit of a selection conundrum when Astbury is back in the mix.

He wasn't woeful, just crap. I haven't been a huge fan in the past but he's fought back well after I thought he was gone. Still could go either way for mine, but he isn't a bad player, and he is in our bottom 4, which speaks volumes for how the side has progressed. Doesn't look pretty but generally been doing his job and goes in hard.

nb. was great at the death in the Adelaide and Sydney wins last year, which made me realise for the first time he might be a player, albeit a mongrel defender.

Can't have a side full of classy thoroughbreds

Took a good mark against his opponent at one stage in the game.
That's all I remember from him in the match.

Batch did OK against carlton. Not a stand-out, but pretty solid. As others have posted, his tests will come when he is opposed to better skilled and influential players. His career is in his hands this season, so I hope he finds the key to being a solid and consistent offender who does the right thing by the team most of the time.

Am a fan of Batchelor party, but Christ he does some dumb things.

If we can raise his footy IQ somehow we'd have a bona fide ten year solid citizen.

You hate him, I get it. For now Dimma and the selection panel agree with me so keep right on hatin' bro.

Dimma also thinks Morris is our best small forward and Newman is a lock for our best 22. The fact Dimma is selecting him means nudda!

Means something quite significant actually, but OK, let's see how Batch continues to perform.

He got pushed in the back by Jones and should have got a free IMO

He seems to pretty much hate everyone who plays for, or is associated with the RFC, so he's an equal opportunity hater.

Don't hate fool it's not cool

I've said before it's not personal, it's an opinion that is based on fact and evidence. No rose coloured glasses here.

its patently untrue. If it was opinion based on evidence there would be some nuance to your analysis. Like, for example, 'short of where he needs to be' or 'good depth player' etc. But nay, any players who is OK or poor they are 'woeful', 'terrible' total dud or whatever. Thats why your post grate on me at least, criticism is fine, hyperbole is just annoying. Beside, it leaves you nowhere to go. What do you do when we have a player play a game that is actually woeful? Nobody will take any notice.

Your rose coloured glass is half empty much of the time MM... opinions are absolutely fine of course but give Batch credit for improving his game significantly since beginning of last year.

I think he's improved marginally. 'Significantly' is a stretch.

I believe our back half will improve when we can add a Speedy classy type like Menadue an replace the Batchelor types , Astbury ,Rance, Chaplin, complemented by Houli , Vlaustin an the Menadue type looks good to me

For me, Batchelor will inherit Chaplin's role as the drop-off. He reads the play just as well, marks just as well, runs better and is harder.
