Not enough love for Batch. I thought he was very good last night. Played like a man possessed. Laid some crucial and brutal tackles. He makes the opposition feel pain.
Agree 100%. Excellent game.

I think he's come of age, CC. He was a shocking stargazer and occasional witness in the past after a promising first year but he's shown some real application after his return in 2014.

Has been okay defensively but I would like see him gives use more offensive drive as he has got a penetrating left boot.

I agree, not getting enough of the ball. Can't have a back line of him, Grimes and Morris if none of them are doing anything offensively.

Fair comment.
I've always been unconvinced by Batch and concerned by weaknesses in his game - but he's certainly showing better signs of late. Maybe it's his time?

He's the silent unassuming type. He's definitely got the smarts to play at this level. It's up to him really.

I share this view. Hopefully he gets the chance to settle in and start showing some consistent signs of the sort of footy he played in his debut season.

Exactly. Has the tools and smarts.

I wasn't sure we would be able to play both Grimes and Batchelor in the team together but since we have missed Astbury, these guys are doing their job.

I actually thought that too, the question now is can we play Grimes, Batchelor and Dea in the one team? One of Batch or Dea will have to go at seasons end and right now Batch is leading the race to stay on the list by a fair way.

Thought he was excellent last night defensively. I actually think our back 6 is quite strong, maybe even our biggest strength, once Astbury comes back in. The one problem I see with them however is that they possibly dont offer as much offensively as other teams do. I'm hopeful however that Batch is a player who once feels confident at AFL level will start providing this more.

Think his inclusion along with Grimes finding some form along with Houli has made us so much better. They even seem to be able to cover for that walkign disaster Morris.

Last night the whole back line was impressive, especially in the last. I don't know how many inside 50s we had but we repelled them all. It's was quite worrying at first but then when it was obvious out boys had it all under control all that was left was to laugh at the wce supporters and look forward to the sing

im liking jake more each week. another real tough to add to the list i reckon.

Agree. I have been critical of him in the past but am slowly coming around to him. Love his composure in the back half.

Does anyone else think we're a better side with this bloke in the team? Doesn't always get a lot of it, but jeez he tackles hard and when he hits them, they stay hit. The sort of bloke you'd love to play with I reckon.
