Jake Batchelor

Very good game today. His marking was very good which is his main strength but his overrall compteviness & intensity was as good as ive seen from him. Made good decisions and generally used it well. Good game Batch.

Yep thought he was good. Like him using his size a few times looking to hurt people

Think he has been solid since his inclusion and hope he stays long enough to build the confidence required to play consistently. Good game today.

he is only a kid, reads play well, and usually makes good decisions with the ball. Looked like he always had time as a junior.

Has been good since he has been brought in this season. I like what I am seeing.

He seemed to have lost his way before he was dropped. I agreed with it at the time. Since his return he has been solid. He provides good hard body pressure. He has good size about him. Hopefully he keeps it up, but he was good today

Yep. Running off half back, we saw the Batch of Old - 2012 style.

All our backs need to be encouraged to take the game on offensively and create. It's not good enough to simply defend and leave the rebound to Houli. Rance, Grimes & Batchelor have been good over the past month in this area.

He's a chance to miss for some off ball stuff me reckons. Would be a pity because even though he's not a fave of mine, he has done a good job of being largely effective and largely unnoticeable in relation to errors for the past month.

He seems to blend in nicely into the defence ATM.

Jake's problem is that he too slow to play on a fast small and too small to play on a big tall. Needs Chappy, Rance and Grimes to do their jobs and he fits in nicely as the fourth or floating defender.

Having Charlie Chaplin playing in the 38 jumper probably helps his cause too.

Nice intercept mark though.

Perfect example of a kid given an opportunity to play. His game yesterday was A1

Zipps is correct and he is finally fit which is showing in his games - keeper for sure.

I really hope they don't drop him for the WCE game. He may not make it, but he needs to given a long enough string of games to show that.

He is only listed at 188, but I watched him manning *smile* during the 3rd term, and they looked pretty much identical in height from the where I was sitting. *smile* does have a slight hunch but I reckon Jake has a good size for a defender.

loved grimes niggle on wingard too.
Seemed like Grimes felt he belonged out there yesterday for the first time since his extended injury layoff.

Yes, seems our team defence and ability to move the ball has been better since he came in. Think in general the back 6 have been more willing to run and more aggressive of late

The new Batchelor does nothing half hearted. When he goes, he goes. Looks a lot more composed at this level.

But, I must say, looks a little, er, um, well, chubby. No muscle definition at all.

Massive preseason required. But I do think he is a keeper & a good depth player.

I was surprised when he came back, thought he was out the door, but after a rusty start he looks like he belongs at this level.

Get Dave back, move Morris on and bring McD in for Newie and we have the makings of a very effective back 6.
