He is just another spud drafted by our clueless recruiting department

Great comment ::)

Would make a good + 1 player in the defensive half.

His strength is reading the play.

Don't forget how good he was in his first year.

There's still some more upside to Jake.

Agreed

Agreed they're is upside to Jake. I liked his game on the weekend, even though he didn't get a heap of the ball

I wouldn't mind seeing how he goes in the forward line during this year. His reading of the flight will be more damaging if he is playing 2nd or 3rd forward. Worth a shot IMO

Had my doubts last year and most of this, but when he's been given his opportunity this season he's taken it, hopefully it can continue. We need players like Batchelor to step up. If only Hardwick and the selection panel would give more of them the chance to do this, but I guess that can't happen while he's in survival mode.

I agree, he reads the play well, if he is on he is good, if he isn't he is horrid.

That is one of my issues with him. There's very little middle ground, and like a lot of players he's a confidence player. If it starts to go bad for him, it just keeps on getting worse the longer the game goes.

Had a very good first year.
Hardwick want to make him a midfielder and he's struggled ever since.

I didn't see Hardwick play him so much as a midfielder, it was more his insistence that he try to play key position in defence when he isn't physically suited for it.

In the pre season games he was in the midfield and some early games.
Also trained him there during the off season.

Looked completely lost and was banished to the 2's.

Batch reminds me of a Bowden type more than a Duncan Kellaway type. Although I loved the passion and commitment of both Kellaways , their skills were pretty basic. If batch had that drive and passion he would improve his own game by 50-60%.

I thought Jake was pretty good again on the weekend. I hope he can lock down a spot soon.

Had high hopes in the early days about Batchelor ... then those hopes middled out the past couple of seasons ... only to have them re-kindled over the past few weeks. Hope he gets a consistent opportunity for the remainder of the season before any final decisions are made on his future.

Like all left footers, needs to get better on his right. Failed to go to his right side yesterday which caused a turnover & goal.

Defended well though but question for me will always be his lack of speed.

I reckon he will become very handy, maybe the type that needed a few years to mature.

In any other club he would be the next "Enright"
He has been given the opportunity and is showing that the HB line could be his.
I rather watch him , then houli

Saw that and it really pissed me off. He was clear to kick on his right but knows he can't kick on his right, stopped, killed momentum and did a semi circle to get back on his left then centred it and turned it over. Just awful. Trouble is he and Grigg and Houli make it 3 left footers who kill momentum when forced on the right. Not good enough to still be doing this at AFL level.
