Jake Batchelor

Re: Pick 30 - Jake Batchelor

:hihi It's worse than that, SCOOP - Gold Coast. ;D It should have been Paris if we'd beat that fraud WCE by the ten goals we were meant to. (Fifteen goal win if Titch had stayed on.) And if Batch could just have slotted one it would have broken them and reignited us.

Next time I want Batchelor to LIFT! A lazy five in the last quarter against Sydney might be nice.

Re: Pick 30 - Jake Batchelor

really like this forward angle.

with grimes back batch might find it crowded at the workbench.

the fact he is a little 'inbetween' down back might make him a tough proposition up forward.

it's time this batchelor dimmed the lights, combed the tiger skin quilt, laid down some Marvin Gaye tunes and serended the cheer squad with some goals.

Re: Pick 30 - Jake Batchelor

Jake should be able to play as 3rd "tall" back, wing, on ball or even 3rd "tall" forward.

Sigh, your not what I thought. I just can't imagine your Hunter S Thompson persona relaxing with the relocated Geriatric community of the Gold Coast.

You and Campbell Brown are the only two blokes on the Gold Coast who could drink at any pub in Richmond circa 1973.

He was deep, brodders. Was in several contests. I was only watching on TV but looked to be playing forward and he was lively.

I'd be interested in more info. (I won't get to watch this game again for a while.)
No idea how he wound up so deep forward but his work when the game was already over to harrass the crap out of those two Weagles n force the stuff up was brilliant. Could easily have bludged n let them waltz out cheap, simply refused to give them a sniff.

Re: Pick 30 - Jake Batchelor

I am not convinced Batch will have to worry about competing with Grimes again this season.

Re: Pick 30 - Jake Batchelor

It's intersting, we've got our arguably back best six Morris, Grimes, Rance, Chaplain, Houli you would have in there and then??? Batch, i have alot of time for, I really prefer Dea back there, I've always thought he would make it back there, Ellis you could easily have back there but i thought more up on or around the wing. Newman could easily go back there. Great predicament to be in.

What i am pointing out is maybe Batch might be the odd one out. I'd like him to be tried maybe up field. Just my opinion though.

Now you getting really excited after one win.
Grimes, plays one game and is out for 20,
Rance was trade bait 2 weeks ago
Houli, still makes old Richmond mistakes

Batchelor is as good as any of them in that back line. For some unknown reason everyone highlights when he screws up on a giant that he is playing on.
If super-coach was smart he would use batch as an "Enright" plays a small and destroy them in the air.

'Super coach' doesn't do this because Batchelor is poor below his knees and has neither the pace or agility to go with decent small forwards. What Batchelor is good at is marking, reading the flight of the ball and has good strength for his size. This is why he plays on the talls and will continue to do so.

Re: Pick 30 - Jake Batchelor

he generally does well in the air, but he does have the 'rance-like' habit of looking very ordinary when he is out-marked.

I have noticed some improvement with his handling of the ball when it's on the deck, and with his agility.
He did a good job on Darling, which is a big tick for him.

Re: Pick 30 - Jake Batchelor

Watched the replay last night. Bloody good game on darling. And some of his kicking was top shelf.

Hope he make that his standard. I think he would be a very good finals player, just seems to lift for big games.

Thank you mate. He played really well

Re: Pick 30 - Jake Batchelor

Just wondering if Jake Batchelor is even related to Nick Batchelor who was apparently a late withdrawal for us today. Why was he out, was he injured?

Re: Pick 30 - Jake Batchelor

I've been disappointed with a few of his games this year. I see him as an upgrade on McGuane. He is an attacking defender. Reads the ball and and often goes for the mark rather than the spoil. Needs to know when to drop in to a more defesive mindset. Spoil chase and tackle. I think he has been poor in these areas in some more recent games. A fit and firing Astbury might spur him on?

Re: Pick 30 - Jake Batchelor

Apparently he tweaked his knee tripping on a gutter at Punt Rd...
