Jake Batchelor

Re: Pick 30 - Jake Batchelor

There are occasions where he spears a long, low pass and hits the target perfectly.....and i think yes, we've got a player here. just needs consistency. I think he's only 19 isn't he, so i'm glad he's with us and not someone else.

Reckon Batch is still waaaaaay better than Petterd.

I don't really see them competing for the same role Carter. Think Petterd's currently eying one of Morris, Ellis, Newman or Houli's spots.
Personally I can see Batchelor getting squeezed out for round 1 if Grimes is fit.

think morris and ellis have petterd covered, newmo might go forward and dimma would be loathe to jettison a zeppelin full of leadership.

maybe houli, ToO. petterd and houli in a cage fight - still reckon houli would thumb his eyes out.

FWIW i think batch and grimes can play together in harmony, like stevie wonder and paul mccartney in 1982.

depth is mighty refreshing though.

Re: Pick 30 - Jake Batchelor

Where Petterd has it over some of the others is his ability to go forward and kick goals. Won't be at all surprised to see him named in round 1.

Re: Pick 30 - Jake Batchelor

Batch at full intensity is a key part of our line up. He reads the play well, has a good kick and good closing speed, and can play taller when needed.

When he drops his intensity, he looks slow and tends to spray his kicks through being too casual.

Someone needs to whack him in the head on the way out of the huddle, just to switch him on.

Tyrones dad could king hit him at the end of every huddle

Re: Pick 30 - Jake Batchelor

21 years old - strong overhead, tough, nice skills.....has areas to improve but IMO one of our better picks. Hope he plays round 1.

i think if we are going to pick him because he can kick goals he will play forward so he can in fact kick goals.

Re: Pick 30 - Jake Batchelor

I think batch belongs in the team. I believe that he plays better when Grimey plays. They sort of compliment each other and seem to have a great understanding on the back line when they both play

Re: Pick 30 - Jake Batchelor

Just reminded myself that Batchelor turned twenty a fortnight ago. His first non-teen year awaits.

Chaplin, Batch and Grimes does reduce the chance of seeing half a backline running backwards kamikaze style into a goal post than Matty Dea, Morris and Rance together does.

I thought he was 21, I take back my prev post, still reckon he gets a bit of an armchair ride though.

Quite right, Snake. I can take 1992 away from 2013. If I can remember the year. Now I'll never forget that 2013 is the year that dementia called. :hihi

Don't be too hard on yourself, Batch only turned 21 a couple of weeks ago. He was 20 prior to that. ;D

Yes you will. :eek:ld

Re: Pick 30 - Jake Batchelor

May have played his way out of round 1 - too laconic down back, needs to appear more desperate, some of the Morris determination. Skills were down and dropped a couple of sitters

Re: Pick 30 - Jake Batchelor

Still very much pro Batchelor. He is 20, with 30 games. Still a pup but shown enough in 30 games to keep going with.

Looks to lack a bit of confidence, punching instead of marking and some half-hearted tackles. I think he'll struggle to make round one.
