Re: Pick 30 - Jake Batchelor

this is the result when you drop a player who was horriblly out of form and make him work hard to win his spot back. good learning curve for jake.

Re: Pick 30 - Jake Batchelor

We shouldn't forget Jake had a very interrupted Pre season, started out at Coburg to get some match fitness an then had a few niggles thru out the season, like the lads hardness at man an pill, can see him playing a vital role down back, but can also see him been able to push up to the fwd line as a pinch hitter

Re: Pick 30 - Jake Batchelor

Fantastic on Friday night!

Thought he got the better of Hurley a few times. Another pre season and this kid will be on fire!

Re: Pick 30 - Jake Batchelor

Was more impressed with his game watching the replay on Sunday- Friday night I was too tense....particularly early on..........

Re: Pick 30 - Jake Batchelor

Just watched the Port game again, suffering footy withdrawal syndrome already. I've gotta say, has this bloke got one of the best kicks to a target when under extreme pressure in the team? I remember he turned a few over early in the season, but the Port game he showed a number of times that even a split second before being tackled he was able to hit a team mate, and it was often around a corner or through traffic. I am looking forward to seeing him develop because his skill set will hold up well under the pressure in finals footy.

Re: Pick 30 - Jake Batchelor

Will become a key for the Tigers down back much the same as Mackie and Enright have been so important to the Cats, and Gibson has become to the Hawks.

Re: Pick 30 - Jake Batchelor

Agree, I think he was a victim this year of his high early standards and some bizarre pre season attempts to change his position. He had a stinker against the GWS but wasn't shown the patience some of the other boys have and has struggled to hold his place this year.

I hope he has a good pre season and is given a good chance to cement his place next year.

Re: Pick 30 - Jake Batchelor

Jake is a footballer's footballer.
He will become our Nick Maxwell/Josh Gisbson - thirn man up who can play off a tall or small.
Hopefully he has a big pre-season and dominates in 2013.

Re: Pick 30 - Jake Batchelor

Makes the right decisions under pressure, has some poise, will be a general in the back half, a sound defender.

Re: Pick 30 - Jake Batchelor

Nick Maxwell is a thug, I think Batch will be different to Maxwell. Hopefully a much better player.

Buckley must scratch his head at working so hard to get a Premiership and missing out only for Maxwell to have one already.

Could have had 3 if he'd have stayed with the Lions.

Re: Pick 30 - Jake Batchelor

Starting to get the nucleus of a very good and reliable back 6 with
Rance,Grimes,Batchelor,Morris,Dea,Griffiths .

Re: Pick 30 - Jake Batchelor

I thought Batchelor was really good tonight. Recovered from injuries of last year and in very good touch. Looks to have furnished into the player we hoped he'd become and still with plenty of improvement in him.

Valstuin showed plenty too. Selection quandaries. What a luxury. Reckon Batchelor will get a start Round One.
