watched the kid at training last week, the thing i noticed is he looks very eager & hungry to get involved even in his first day he was looking to get involved in the drills the boys were doing whilst the other new recruits in helbig, dericks, mcdonald were a bit reserved batchelor was standing 15 mtrs in front of them with anticipation of getting asked to join asap.

That is a very good sign in itself. Happy to hear that.

Magic I normally rate your opinion but I don't see that at all watching the highlights

Re Duncan Kellaway kicking comparison - I did see it a bit - reasonably high ball drop and a few helicopters. He looks pretty tough and agressive however.

I can't see it myself. Reminds me of Michael Mansfield's (ex Geelong and Carlton) kicking action. Dunc had an inside-out kicking action, very poor mechanics.

Duncan and Andrew were both as hard as they came. The Tigers will be doing well if Batchelor is that tough. I just hope he's a better kick than either of them.

Re: Pick 30 - Jake Batchelor

FJ is only picking players that have good skills. He won't pick a player as high as 30 if he is not a good kick.

Re: Pick 30 - Jake Batchelor

Gee this guy looks good on his highlight reel. There is no doubt he will be a good structure player which it looks like we draft for that now ie a system/structure/game plan.

I wouldn't be surprised if he is a gem as he seems to get heavily involved in play.

Reckon I might reasses our draft performance during next year and I reckon it will be an upgraded assessment.

Jake Batchelor RI B Dandenong Stingrays 188cm 79kg 18 249 100 86 32 7 13 16 4.4 74.1

Stats on Jake for 2010 in the TAC. 2.5 kicks to every handball tells me that his foot skills are above average. At that ratio he may have ben the go to kicker out of the backline for the Stingrays.

This kids attitude is first rate.

Care to elaborate on why you came to this conclusion Tigerbob? Yes, I want to hear all of the good stuff! :)

Always good news, however I might point out that so was Adam Pattisons............I am practising to be a Darksider

Re: Pick 30 - Jake Batchelor

It doesn't suit you magic, to start with your grammar is far too good.

Re: Pick 30 - Jake Batchelor

Just thinking about our draft again given Heppell is apparently tearing it up at Essendumb.

Wonder if RFC saw much difference between Heppell and Batchelor therefore took Conca as they knew the same product as Heppell would be available at 30 being Batchelor, anyone care to comment on the two lads similarities or am I way off the mark ?

im not 100 sure but from what ive seen heppell played down back while recovering from injury. i think in a few years heppell will be a similar player to mundy from freo.

where as batchelor is more a backman,
