Just thinking about our draft again given Heppell is apparently tearing it up at Essendumb.

Wonder if RFC saw much difference between Heppell and Batchelor therefore took Conca as they knew the same product as Heppell would be available at 30 being Batchelor, anyone care to comment on the two lads similarities or am I way off the mark ?

interesting thoughts and worth a ponder...only a ponder though 8)

essendumb are an egg case.

No.....THey simply rated Conca better then Heppell, if POlec was avaliable a different story

Re: Pick 30 - Jake Batchelor

CC that sounds interesting about Polec, i wonder how many more they had in preference to Heppell.

Always good news, however I might point out that so was Adam Pattisons............I am practising to be a Darksider

Better to say positive about our young kids and support the recruiting staff!

I hear young heppnell is amazing the Dons staff for being a better kick than Watson and he has smashed rioli's old time trial records

Re: Pick 30 - Jake Batchelor

I heard the Bummers couldn't believe he slipped to pick 8 as they had him in their top 3

I have only one wish this year, crash and burn

Funnily enough players tend to be drafted by the club that rated them highest

Re Duncan Kellaway kicking comparison - I did see it a bit - reasonably high ball drop and a few helicopters. He looks pretty tough and agressive however.

He hit more target in that 10 min highlight package than Dunc hit in his career.

Seemed to hit targets easily enough with both feet which is pleasing to see.

Heppell will kill it in the AFL. If Batchelor gets anywhere near the same level I will be very very happy.

Re: Pick 30 - Jake Batchelor

I think the Tigers just saw greater value for our club in Conca. I don't think for a second they weren't ever thinking that Heppell wouldn't be a good player, as they were very, very keen on him too.

How I'd wish we can get a player that can play the :"glove role" like Dunc did ...his disposal was abysmal but his #1 priority was stopping the opposition. We need a player like that as we continually get players lile Milne, Bets etc on the flanks that destroy us.

Re: Pick 30 - Jake Batchelor

I think people are forgetting that Batchelor was never penciled in with pick 30, in fact FJ is on record saying that had any one of Lycett or Darling fallen our way we would of taken either one of them before Batchelor.

No doubt the club did there homework on this one, and instead of just having 1 plan set for draft night they went in with a multiple plans.

Re: Pick 30 - Jake Batchelor

Seems like a pretty level headed kid, reckon he'll be a good pick up

Anyone else think he bears a striking resemblance to Cuz?

Agree, a big resemblance there.
Fingers crossed that his footballing traits follow suit
