Re: Pick 30 - Jake Batchelor

Has been lackadaisical. Its kind of disconcerting this business of dropping players on form.

Re: Pick 30 - Jake Batchelor

Personally, I have wondered if paying him as the 3rd tall, meaning he has regularly lined up on true key forwards giving away plenty of size, has taken a bit out of him.

It happens all the time at good teams.

Our shas been one of the few clubs over the years that has had a large number of players who get picked every week. At most clubs, good players in reasonable form find themselves on the sidelines for a few weeks all the time, esp if the team has had acouple fo disappointing outings. They tend to come back more determined to keep their spot when they get back in.

I've been waiting years to see this happen. Hope it lasts more than one week though.

I meant disconcerting in an exhillerating-kind of way. Also sarcasm, which is a perennial problem of mine. Its great to see.

Could be interesting if Kel Moore has a couple more good games. He could sneak in before Jake.

Depth is good!

We're actually in really good shape for medium defenders.
It's our midfield depth that's the concern. One reason they were likely prepared to see how Batch went in the role early in the season.

I must've turned my sarcasm meter off while I was talking to clients on the phone this morning and forgot to turn it back on.

Just a little wake up call.

Batch will be fine.

Agree, won't hurt to go back to Coburg and work on deficiencies!

I reckon his drop off in form has really happened since Grimes went down. Not only did we lose a good player, but others had to pick up the slack.

Probably has. He has had to play too tall.

I still like him a lot as a player though.

Re: Pick 30 - Jake Batchelor

Yeah, think he'd make the ultiimate LMID. Plenty of intercept marks and great vision/decision making on the break.

Re: Pick 30 - Jake Batchelor

Good wake up call, will serve him well. He is going to be a fine player for us, only in his 2nd year.

Re: Pick 30 - Jake Batchelor

Heh heh, wake up call, as if he is simply choosing to not play to the best of his ability.

Re: Pick 30 - Jake Batchelor

He wasn't helped by appalling umpiring against GWS. Amazing that he's not playing this week, though the umps who made those 2 howlers involving Batch are probably running around this weekend with no sanction.

Second year blues, I'm not too concerned because we know what he's capable of. Batch is definitely part of the future.
