Jake Batchelor

Re: Pick 30 - Jake Batchelor

Can't believe this guy wasn't in the team last week - given he looked in second gear In the pre season. Played a excellent game last night and really stiffens up the backline. Shouldn't see coburg again.

Re: Pick 30 - Jake Batchelor

Good to see Batch come out with a great game.

I was worried he might have had second years blues, which at Tigerland often seems to be career fatal.

Re: Pick 30 - Jake Batchelor

Played very well in the position he has grown up in all his life.

In a role we badly need.

Daly said he had an interrupted preseason and fitness was their concern. By playing him in the seconds last week he got more game time quicker than if he had played in the seniors rd 1

Good to see him in the thick of the scuffle without any fear in his eyes.

he is a good Frankston boy, they never back down from a scuffle

Re: Pick 30 - Jake Batchelor

Very welcome return. The thing I like best is that he has the right mix of desperation and poise.

Correct, as natural a HBF as you'll see. His timing on his support runs is great, always hit's the spot at pace. Him playing enables lids to spend more time further up the field.

Re: Pick 30 - Jake Batchelor

absolutely love this kid, a very underestimated inclusion for our team, really adds alot to our backline

You're right on this one daisy. Looks settled in defence.

So we shouldnt persist with him as a midfielder and play Lifs as a HBF?

I like that we experimented with the idea in the NAB cup but he does look more settled down back for sure. Worth a try and doesn't seem to have hurt his development too much.
Brett played well on ball last night but still think his ball use is missed from the back line.

Yeah, its a catch 22 isnt it.

We need a lot more silk than what is currently in our backline, we instantly looked so much better back there when he was rolling thru mopping up.

Re: Pick 30 - Jake Batchelor

Showed why he should have played Round 1. I still can't quite work out why he didnt.

Can play on talls and smalls, and helps with our problem of clearing the ball from the backline.

No need to develop into a midfielder - can make HB his own.

Re: Pick 30 - Jake Batchelor

Batchelor is a future midfielder for sure. Had the most contested possessions for the Tigers, Still very young and inexperienced at AFL level and running off a half back flank is a great way to learn the ropes. Is a very calm customer, hardly ever panics.

Re: Pick 30 - Jake Batchelor

Very happy with his game yesterday. Looks every bit like our Corey Enright. No need to push him in the midfield.

Re: Pick 30 - Jake Batchelor

Genuinally tough, loved when he beat Swan one on one..... IMHO he will be one of those blokes who you are shocked with when he plays are bad one.

Re: Pick 30 - Jake Batchelor

We are screaming out for a player who can play on talls and smaller types, they are a rare find--I think that's why we have persisted with Moore for so long. Would rather seem him become a fixture in the backline with Rance, Grimes and Ellis. All smart users of the ball and mature for their games played.
