Jake Batchelor

Re: Pick 30 - Jake Batchelor

Looks to me a more aggressive version of Jamie Tape (RIP) one of my favorite tigers ever and a gun HBF.

This guy will do the one percents and go when it is his turn. Wrapped he is back.

Re: Pick 30 - Jake Batchelor

OMG did will find a gem outside of pick 5??
The kid is a beauty, clean and calm.
Is he a Geelong kid wearing a Richmond jumper??

Re: Pick 30 - Jake Batchelor

Really like this kid (not that he looks like one!)

He's already a nice height, but hoping he can grow another couple of centremetres and he will be great size to play on those medium sized forwards.

Agree, I'm hoping he'll become our no.1 at marking interception opposition kicks/3rd man up type stuff, don't know the stats but gut feel we're poor in this area, thinking in the mold of Keane/Landy/Tape(as you said)/Kelloway.

One thing though, he has an extremely high ball drop when kicking, it should cause him trouble but doesn't seem to.

His ball drop worries me too. Definitely not the safest looking kicking action, and hoping his technique keeps in out of trouble especially when under pressure.

Apart from his unorthodox technique, seems to have all the attributes to make it as a good defender.

Very happy with his game yesterday. Looks every bit like our Corey Enright. No need to push him in the midfield.

Enright often has stints in midfield. If Batchelor is so good at the contested possession then I think this should be nurtured. Of course if we can find ready replacements for our current midfield of Jackson, Tuck and Edwards then maybe we can afford to groom Batch purely for that HBF role. But the successful clubs seem to have many options when it comes to matchups by being able to play some of their better players in different positions.

Re: Pick 30 - Jake Batchelor

Great game by Batchelor on the weekend. Hardly did a thing wrong.

Especially impressed with him winning many contests even when out numbered.

Must never play for Coburg again.

Our version of Enright.

Re: Pick 30 - Jake Batchelor

I watched the game again, I know about 6 players deserved votes, but I have to admit I am suprised he hasn't received a few more on here.

hes a gem for sure.

Agree he shouldn't play at Coburg again.

Re: Pick 30 - Jake Batchelor

no second year blues from this kid.
could be a real winner for us,.

Re: Pick 30 - Jake Batchelor

I would like to see Batch play on Steve Johnston next week. He will learn a lot from this matchup. And I think he has the game to give a good account of himself.

Probably not a bad match up.

Gun! Geelong player in a Richmond jumper, cool, calm and kicks like a horse..
Merv Keane of 2012!!

Re: Pick 30 - Jake Batchelor

Looks assured already, will be down back with Grimes and Rance for another decade.

Re: Pick 30 - Jake Batchelor

Good game by Cleo yesterday. He's super competitive and reads the play so well it's ridiculous. Our backline looks so much better with him in it.

Re: Pick 30 - Jake Batchelor

Ever since he has come back into the team after the Carlton game, Jake has got better and better. His ability to read the play down back and be able to take the defensive mark has been impressive.

Built like a brick *smile* house and only in his second season. He along with Rance and Grimes are building a very solid defensive unit.

Re: Pick 30 - Jake Batchelor

Loving his progress, no second year blues here (so far). Takes a very solid grab, at times plays like a 193-194cm backman. Is it just me or with the left foot kicks and 11 looks like we have clined Joel Bowden.
