mrposhman said:Oh yeah I know that, I'm no fan of his, but I suspect we will end up keeping 1 of Batchelor, Moore, Lambert and Butler. IMO Moore and Lambert will be delisted, the other 2 will depend on who we take in the ND IMO. If we take a defender, then Batchelor goes and I reckon Butler is given another shot.

You think so. I posted along similar lines in 2015 to this post when Matt Dea could not get a go. He went on to win our VFL B & F, then got cut after his best season probably.bigwow said:His hardness is his best feature, and he's not a bad intercept marker.
I'd delist them all. We keep these types on our list for too long. Time we were ruthless in our decision making and not settle for mediocrity.Tigers of Old said:Of all those you mention Butler is the one I'd perserve with as a small forward. Started to show a bit at the end of last season. Not sure it will be enough though.

Batchelor played 8 AFL games with us in 2016, enough to compare with Dea's 21 at the Dopers. Do you think we kept the right one?
Not saying Dea is any champ or even a big loss, I disagree with some on here and think we have loads of HBFs, just that I think he is as good an intercept mark and a more reliable kick and decision-maker:
http://www.footywire.com/afl/footy/ft_player_compare?playerStatus1=A&tid1=6&playerStatus2=A&tid2=15&type=A&pid1=3355&pid2=3475&fid1=S&fid2=S
My point is not even 'sour grapes', more 'spilt milk.' The dopers have re-signed Dea and allowed Hibberd to go, shows confidence in him as an adequate replacement.
bigwow said:To be fair, Jake was part of a consistent back 6 in 2015, and played 23 games, in one of the best defences in the competition for the year, not his fault Matt Dea couldnt force his way in.
Jake more a footballer, Dea more an athlete, based on Basketball background, Dea lacked footy touch, and looked robotic at time. Batch no superstar, but as a footballer showed more than Dea.
In saying that though, Dea was harshly treated at RFC, didn't get the opportunities he could have.

Lets just say that there really wouldn't be many players left.

One with triggers on a bargain basement price. For everything Richardson got right it's this nonsense of giving out two year deals like confetti to any potato on the list that sets him back. Get a spine. If he has a two year deal on the table from someone else, let him go. Get a Dave Mirra for a year on minimum wages and see what you have. This is the very definition of a list clogging decision.
Don't forget Lids - albeit we did move him on.Baloo said:Jack, Martin, Rance - Thats about it I reckon
