Was an important part of the leagues 3rd best defence last season.
That is true and fwiw he did much better than I thought he could last year.
But it doesn't mean our back line could not have been better without him.
That said - he probably needs to come in this week to fill the holes.

it had its faults, the engine by enlarge was working perrrrrfectly. Batch was in there, but to win that elusive final we didn't just tinker with a few things, we stripped it back to bare metal and started again. Wrong!

This is the crap footy we plated before Jack won most of over in 2014 (?) and despite going outside the "4 walls code" spoke the truth and said we changed our game style too much. Incredibly post those comments we started to play much better.

Batchelor matches up perfectly against Darling, the benny hill music was playing in the selection room when they decided plan A was to play Flossy against Darling and leave Batch in Melbourne

Agree Col Batch is limited but that was the perfect match for him.

Needs to play this weel.

Vlossy simply isnt up to the role they are asking for him.

Welcome back Jake Batchelor

I think he puts balance back in(Grimesy/Concs alas missing for a while too, Yarran bonus). Releases Ellis to what he should be doing. Combine with Big Ivvy and Deleeds coming in, Miles suspension served - and I reckon we are ready to *smile* go! Disappointed Vlas won't be there to enjoy.

Re: Welcome back Jake Batchelor

I wish i had of got to create this thread. I hope he proves many naysayers wrong.

Welcome back sanity. I never feel comfortable against the demons but batch is going to help me cope this week.

Re: Welcome back Jake Batchelor

I will not give up hope. If a presumption is his best chance i will take it any day.

I think Batchelor down back would release Flossy further down the ground and maybe into the midfield in short bursts. We have definitely missed both Grimes and Batchelor at times this year.

Batch is no star but He can't have gone from playing 23 games one year to not in best 22 4 rounds later. Has to be played. No one has showed me they are better yet.

Now he is playing i hope he plays in defence, you never really know these days.
Will be a decent challenge for him might end up playing on hogan, i have to admit i dont know any other Melbourne players. God i hope we bore p roos into a loss this week. Losing to Melbourne does my head in.
