Jake Batchelor

He would have been the perfect guy to match up on that Muppet fosolo who murdered us last night
I can see a place for him in the team before some others at least he has a crack

We are missing Batch. My take is as soon as he is back our defensive group will function better. Our backline needs his presence as the other boys are wingmen who don't really know the true defensive side of the game. Jake knows defence the same way as Jack knows offense. Here is a novel thought, start playing players where they are best suited. This way we would expect them to produce their best outcomes.

In hindsight I think you are right

and thats the issue. There are certain games where Batch just won't match up well in and one of those will be Adelaide. I'd be bringing in Cahplin for Grimes this week. I actually think Batch would be a good matchup against West Coast though playing on La Cras.
Cant Astbury and Rance handle Walker and Jenkins, and Batchelor plays on Lynch? Personally think that may be better (having Chaplin and Astbury together makes our ball movement far too stagnant down there IMO). Vlastuin, Castagna and Houli to pick up the rest of their forwards.

He'll probably be Grimes' replacement. Although he, like others in the team at present, lacks composure with the ball, he can take a decent grab and will give it everything he's got, and I still think he's a better kick than Taylor 'the Butcher' Hunt.
That's not right, one thing he does have is composure when he gets it, defensive pressure is questionable and ability to play tall is also questionable. Intercept marking and decision marking pretty good

Totally agree. You've summed up his positives and negatives spot on.

Good solid player but slightly too short to play key position and not quite quick enough for most mid or small forwards.

However he was part of a strong defence for most of 2015 & should get a go with Grimes out.

I feel like I will be vindicated when jake gets back in and we start winning. Cmon dimma your career depends on Batchelor getting a game.

Dyre'ere he needs to be. With out him in perth its a massive hole on a long ground. He is in our top 6 defenders. Play him or continue to suffer goals without hope of improvement. Just a reminder to the tigers faithful that jake was a premier defender last year game in game out. PS tiger fans jack is a premier forward and dustin is a premier mid and cotchin is a premier mid blah blah. Play our team in their best position and who knows we might be better than Richmond in the first 3 rounds.

I haven't seen the game but i got a feeling jake was missed again. Im calling FARCE. Bring him back please.

Maybe not, but with Grimes and Astbury out, we may not have much choice.

I know Elton did ok against Boyd last year in Pre-season, but hasn't done a huge amount down back since. Think he's further away from succeeding at AFL level than Morris is.

he would want to go alright today.

problem will be if we bring him in to replace Astbury we will have to play Rance on the best forwards, which can limit his rebounds/intercepts etc.
playing Astbury at FB has allowed Rance a bit of freedom at times.

Apart from getting towelled because of a terrible match up against Waite in the Elim Final i thought he was pretty good last year.
