GAME DAY Tiges v Suns

Dimma claiming it’s the best the Suns have played all year is the icing on the cake. They were average. It was an error riddled awful game. That was not a defeat at the hands of a good opposition.
Absolutely. He looked and sounded like he didn’t have any answers. Or, if he does he doesn’t want to say or admit it. Talking about how good the Suns were, how we’ve lost confidence (how does a 3 time Premiership team and reigning Premier lose confidence ?) and again talking about how “we have a lot of work to do.”

He looks flummoxed ! Heh heh heh…

If there is something that has happened and has contributed to this "over the cliff" demise, surely the fans deserve to know.

youre right.

ill let you in on it.

its Hocking and Scott. 666, Stand, less interchange

operation stop the tigers.

10 to 1 frees in the last quarter of a 1 kick game? Unprecedented? Incompetant? Corrupt?

we fought the war on tigers,

and the tigers won

Generalising just shows something's on and we don't know.

forgive me if there are a few hot takes in here but:

Jack Riewoldt - Treacle - can we carry that anymore? still impacting but the downside is oppo defenders can work off him. hate seeing it.

Dustin Martin - Must be carrying. Gotta be.

Trent Cotchin - Kicked quickly on the break in the last quarter. Knew he'd be caught. Can't play outside no more. For the first time I think he's done.

Shai Bolton - Flashes in and out. The good is brilliant but the poor is unfocused, almost arrogant.

Dylan Grimes - Something is eating him this year. No confidence.

Nick Vlastuin - Injury, lack of continuity, increasingly prone to head knocks, lack of discipline.

Liam Baker - Kicking isn't VFL standard at the moment. Yep, that's actually a big problem.

Marlion Pickett - Takes VFL seconds to decide what to do with the pill. Yep, that's a problem too.

Patrick Naish - Was going to leave him out but he HAD to stick that tackle. If that's his weakness, he can't play.

Jake Aarts - Dumb VFL footballer. There, I've said it.

Kamdyn McIntosh - Kicking is far too agricultural for 2021 football.

George Castagna - See Kamdyn McIntosh

Bachar Houli - Cannot impact with speed, fluency and penetration anymore. Sadly, cooked.

Jack Ross - Just not an AFL footballer.

Riley Collier-Dawkins - Far too flat-footed tonight. Needs to get on his bike.

Jack Graham - Gap between the good and the bad is too far. Needed to help carry the midfield tonight but didn't. Not in my best 22 for 2022 at this point.

As you can see, this is the core of the team. We're done. I wouldn't be trading any picks away for ready-made top-ups. If we don't make finals we are officially in the refresh category.

Yellow agree 100% with your take .........

Naish and RDC are at least young, not saying they have the talent, but hey, you need warm bodies still to take the field to try and compete.

All the others have been very instrumental in our success at varying levels over the past 4 years, in Cotchin's, Reiwoldt's, Dusty's, Grimes and Vlaustin's careers, quite a bit longer especially Cotch, who kept this team afloat on his lonesome for quite a few years at a very young age.

Time for Cotch (Superstar) and Bachar (Champ) to take a well earned rest, have been absolute inspirations on and off the field and deserve every accolade afforded to them, earned every single one of them through hardwork and determination and if Chimp doesn't end up with a statue down at Punt Rd then I'm not sure who does anymore, as great a Leader that this Club has ever had and that puts him in rarefied air.

Punters thinking that the Eagles game turned us and we have only stunk the past two weeks.
This is not the post 2016 Richmond that brought glory and joy to us all.
We see glimpses of that team, but they are the exception. Richmond has stumbled, fumbled, and been disconnected as a team for the whole season. Dimma knows. You can see it in his body language. The celebration of each other is waning.
We are gone for this year. Maybe next. Dimma needs to revisit the off-season of ‘16 and reinvent his team and it’s strategy, plan, and processes. Get honest, root out the rot, and get to work.

He’d know some favourite sons are cooked, but what do you do? You can’t say anything in a presser.

Why are looking for exterior excuses for the way we are playing.
99% of the players wouldn't give a *smile* what Hardwick does in his private life.
Rance left we won 2 flags.
Rutten leaves we win 2 flags
Carcella leaves we win 2 flags
Grigg goes to Geelong we win a flag.
There aren't external excuses.
We are physically exhausted
We wouldn't beat North reserves.
We are crawling to round 23
Agree that we are look tired, however in close organisations like a football club, preaching one thing and doing something else goes a long way, a long way indeed. Its a sum of the parts.

Brisbane 3 peat and got smacked in their 4th year.
Hawthorn 3 peat and then lost in a SF.
Geelong 07/09/11.
Richmond 17/19/20 and then unlikely to make the 8 in year 5.

Brisbane‘s era from 20 years ago was when teams didn’t even have full-time recruiters, so it offers little meaning for our own projections into the future.

Geelong have been near the top from 2007-2021+.

Hawthorn have been near the top from 2008 with only a couple of seasons down.

I’d include Sydney and West Coast at a tier below as being consistently successful for over a decade in modern AFL.

We‘ve had a long-term, consistent upward trend as a football club before 2017, suggesting our greatness was built into the fabric of the club under Benny Gale over a period of time and therefore unlikely to “end” quickly like Brisbane, which is the only example to argue otherwise, and they had several AFL advantages that meant they didn’t have as many cultural advantages like more recent well-run, successful, modern clubs.

We’re a strong, professionally-run club with leaders in every department.

It’s reasonable to expect sustained high performance for another decade, but I understand the old Richmond fears we all have.

He saw it on the wall ages ago "humble and hungry" nothing wrong with being an arrogant football side if you can back it up. We have all seen sides like this for years so maybe back to drawing board, if you can kick it, who gives a rats about bringing your teamntes into the game when the game is on the line. So much "cute" football in the last few weeks my liver hurts.

Why are these morons at the game booing Ellis and Markov.......................................Ingrates.
Just made fools of themselves. Frankly, I'd have both of them back, one for endurance running and the other for speed, and both for spread.

Yes, Tommy.

It’s time to reset our clearance method. Dow and RCD look good I reckon. Throw in Hopper as a free agent and three highly regarded mids who compete and run all day.

Sprinkle in Prestia, Lambert, Edwards, Bolton and Dusty and this is how we look:

Prestia
Hopper
Martin
Bolton
Edwards
RCD
Dow
First round mid
Second round mid
Second round mid
Graham

has never been the best media performer

Jack is going ok. 5th in the Coleman right now. Do you wear one of those I'm with stupid T-shirts with the arrow pointing up? :rotfl1

Houli and Astbury are finished in my eyes.

Cotch is showing that he can't play full time midfield any longer. He's gone from that. Either needs a reset to another position or it may be the end.
3 votes each, you and The General, can't split you.

Yes, might be time to play him forward to see what he can do, drop Aarts or Castagna. Couldn't possibly do worse.
I said that earlier, but the other 2 are poison atm. However we dont seem to have any smalls up fwd anymore. Why?
