Game Day Tiges v Port

Looks like the AFL got us by sending us to play the top team on their home ground with a longer break and us off 4 day break and 3 hard games.

They'll be pretty happy with themselves tonight.

Full team equal rest we will brain them.

I didnt watch the game thankfully but looking at the stats we got killed in the middle is that safe to assume.

Wines Boak Rockliffe and Gray top points getters .....................................obviously fresh legs for them.

GAGF AFL you corrupt campaigners.

Bring on Port in September at the G or the other G and we will flog them.

3 games within 10 days and with an inexperienced group. Port had more experience and stuck their tackles and spoils. They shouldn't get too carried away with this win.
Looking at Hickley after the game, he is.

The midfield was shallow after Dusty and Shai. Lambo had one of his worst games for a long time.

The kids in the midfield got shown up tonight. Not surprising they'd collectively have a down game at some stage. Honourable loss, just a shame we could't steal one before a 9 day break.

The premiership campaign starts now.

Well Port had a longer break, and didnt have to travel game day and their midfield was fresh ours has played 3 games in 2 weeks and had to travel.

Theyve sat pretty at home.

Mate you have very little idea. They had a heap more entries and scoring shots in good areas. Missed 3-4 sodas.

they had us on the back foot all game. How many smooth chains did we have? 2-3?

you weren’t watching. We were smashed.
You do realise we flew into Adelaide this morning after 4 day break, against the top team with 3/4 of our midfield missing and almost won in the end. Not sure who had no idea. You are making it sound like we lost by 100 points at the G with a full side.

I thought as a whole it was a pretty good effort, however there was a lot of players who very little impact ,thought Bolton again went very well, may get caught a little but his trying to create , was disapointed in the rest of the young mids , though it was a tough opportunity, it was still an opportunity to cement a spot .

overall I’m not real sure what to take out of that , I’d definitely like to see RCD or Dow get a go in the middle next week.

biggest player we miss other then the skip I believe is Nank

If the midfield were beaten then it stands to reason that our backs likely got done.

The midfield had excuses. Martin and 3 other blokes who have played around 50 games total.

The backline has held up very well without Astbury and Houli. Not tonight.

Consistently failed to properly kill contests, let the ball go to ground in dangerous areas and didn't provide adequate team defence support to Balta.

Looks like the AFL got us by sending us to play the top team on their home ground with a bye and us off 4 day break and 3 hard games.

First game of Round 11 and last game of Round 12. They haven't exactly looked after us. Sydney, North, Dogs & Port all had longer breaks when playing us. GWS same, Brisbane less.

I think the disappointing thing tonight for me was the number of fumbles, number of players going up for the ball leaving Port smalls to feast at ground level. Never seen Grimes fumble so much. Vlastuin kept flying and completely missing the ball. Our backline was just well off their game.

The nature of this loss (outplayed from go to woe) is something we need to address in the review. Can’t whitewash this one with excuses.

bullied in the contest all night. Yes, senior bodies to come in but Hardwick won’t let the players off easy.

Probably fatigued 3 games in less than 2 weeks and an early flight in this morning.

No doubt Port are circle jerking themselves into a coma tonight.

Let them we will bury them when it counts.

Used WAFL for years living OS but yeah was thinking of looking into other options next year. I think the membership plus free account is good value though.
Yeah it is. I'm in Abu Dhabi it works great everytime. I get it outside my membership as I've got afl membership with club support. Foxtel with a smartdns works well from here too.

So when we beat teams without the same players it’s “system”, but when we get punched up all night it’s because we’re “missing players”.

Can’t have it both ways.

Port dismantled the system this arvo. No panic stations but definitely food for thought.

we need muscle in the midfield no doubt, but we’d wanna look closely at what Port did.

I generally don't like h him, but Dwayne Russell's call made me laugh: "Aarts, not creative enough"

A bye?
Port played the day before we did - they had a one day longer break.
With a rolling draw like they now have (many days with only one game on it), it's simply not mathematically possible to make it any more even than that, otherwise you'd be playing the same team every week.
Think about it.

Right now, the team Port played (Bulldogs) are playing the team we played (Lions). The two pairs of teams have crossed over.
So for each game, the breaks the two competing teams are coming off are four and five days. One different. Not possible to be any less.

Given the limitations involved, I think the AFL are probably doing as well as they can.
