GAME DAY Tiges v Pies

What have we ever got from our NGA? Eggman? How many games did he play? It's a *smile* disgrace how Scumwood have rorted this. That area of Melbourne is football nursery gold. The Chargers have by far and away the best U/18 program and most of the elite private schools with their scholarship dollars are in that zone.

How much money was exchanged under the table to allow this rort? I would argue Richmond is traditionally tied to this zone than Hawthorn. Our old metro recruiting zone formed a big part of this area. That's semantic anyway, the whole NGA thing should be abolished. And Quanyor thrown back into the open draft!!!!
Absolutely- Oakleigh, Mt Waverley etc was Richmond

If it was quick then it wasn't prior? Remember prior is before being tackled, not after.

IMO it was before. Watched the game with a mate who is a Pies man (save the jokes people, he is a great bloke) and he thought the same.

We both thought that the interpretation of prior opportunity tonight was pretty good, but felt the Pies were lucky with this one.

Early signs of this game showed these rats can be beaten. Can't wait for later in the year when they gas out......otherwise I'll call ASADA myself...

Buses for trains on Frankston Cranbourne pakenham lines etc tonight. Absolute mess. Finally leaving caufield but maybe 300-500 still waiting for a bus. Cruel and unusual punishment with Collingwood supporters singing.

Generally speaking I don't hate Collingwood as much as some other sides, but that stupid soccer half song half chant and Daicos having a go at Maurice when he was on the ground and the game was done, they jumped up a few hate notches tonight.

In the end I thought it was gutsy effort. Butchered the ball, heavily undermanned, and still got within a few goals. Nothing scared me about the pies. Got to start getting selections right. Not playing Cumbo in round 1 and until after half time tonight cost us big time. Judson needs to play MJRs role for the next month whilst MJR goes back to twos and plays on ball to rack up the possies. Sonsie for Ross all day everyday

Overall not a bad effort considering we kicked 1 goal and had about 4 shots on goal for the 1st half and we got one clearance from the middle for the entire second half.
- I know we were without Hopper but how can we be that bad out of the middle when Nank got 1st hands on the ball for most of the night.
- Have we paid a fortune for a bloke who can't kick? Taranto's disposal continues to be abominable - hope its just an aberation.
- Baker was huge tonight - clean, brave, decisive!
- Grimes is a step off it (Once upon a time he blanketed De Goey (I know not on him all the time).
- Rioli great but needs a hand - we need another dasher off half back.
- We need to go down the middle some of the time (we go the wing repeatedly and lose more often than not).
- Cumby needs to always play - got us going in the 3rd!
- Ridiculous decision to play Ryan (didn't learn anything from his debut)- I said at start of game he would be lucky to make half time. Flew against Lynch - I wonder how much closer we may have been at half time if we had a runner playing instead of Ryan.
- Maybe Nank isn't the answer in the ruck (I know he is a workhorse and heart and soul of team) but I guarantee a fit Max Gawn would have torn the pies to shreds with all the part time rucks they through at us. Same happened in Elimination Final againt Brisbane - Hodge was commenting on it - Won 16-3 hitouts but lost clearances 10-5!

- Don't think its all doom and gloom - if they are the best, we can bridge the gap!
Very good summation, many issues raised...
The lack of coordination between Nankervis and our mids has been a problem for years. Opposition mids seem to know where he'll tap it but we don't!
You could be right about Taranto, his kicking doesn't look good at all.
Ryan and Lynch were often flying together and on one occasion Lynch punched from behind spoiling Ryan's mark!
Our older players were really shown up as too slow in pace and reflexes so I hope they can get better over the coming weeks/months but they just might not. Last week even Dusty was getting caught so I'm not sure he would have made a huge difference tonight.

One good aspect, their scores from inside 50 entries went at 39%, first time under 50% this year.

Not enough positives apart from that though.

DS
We won the free kick count by 7. Better than a poke in the eye!

Always apply a pinch of salt to my posts as I only see games on the telly.

But...Collingwood's pressure game beat our pressure game. All night. When ball got shaken loose from a pressure situation they were quicker and more effective in moving it away from the break down and into the 50. Most of that is willi guess and ability to "run to recieve". Mids and half backs busting a gut to provide outlets to the inside mids, rucks. We were very lucky to be so close to them.

My "Balta can't see under lights" theory got blown out of the water. Was really good.

Mansell worked hard, you can still see the green shoots but there's plenty there to work with.

The telly doesn't show you what is happening in the 50 off the ball so I have no insights into how Lynch was so well held. But he shouldn't be missing set shots from gettable angles.

The 50 at the end was *smile*. The free should have been reversed when Daicos hit Rioli while he was still on the ground.

*smile* night. I don't think they are that good.. well coached, no doubt.

These blokes are the best March champions that existed. Quote me in September but gut feel is they can't go all the way. They will struggle to make finals

We need to adjust to the conditions better. Ryan was never a starter. Cumberland should have started.

Serious questions need to be asked of the match committee regarding Cumberland. This guy is skillful, fast, and uses the ball well but couldn't get a look in and even with many out starts as the sub. Once he came on in the 3rd he made things happen. He looked electrifying.

Jack Graham for his 100th game was bitterly disappointing 14 touches don't cut it sorry.

With all our outs thought we battled hard. I am not too upset with a 2 goal loss. Cumbers when he came on played well and changed the direction of the game for us.

Cmon Brizzie, they are a genuinely good side. Guns all over the park. I don’t like it as much as you don’t, but the pies will take some beating this year.

Match premiers no doubt. I just can't see them doing what they're doing when the whips are cracking.

Thing that I think they have going for them, is thier ball movement. Even in the wet tonight it looked amazing. I hope you’re right and they fall in a heap, but unfortunately I think they’ve got the list and coaching staff to pull it off.
