GAME DAY Tiges v Pies

In all honesty we would have played the same with our 4 outs playing.

This is a game plan and personnel issue. Too many slow players and too many who can't hit a target.

Chaos was dead three years ago. Try some new tricks Dimma.

Our entire midfield is one paced. No explosive speed or acceleration from any of our mids which is a huge problem.

Spot on. The stand rule killed our premiership game plan. The game now requires elite kicking skills. We don't have enough players with that attribute. We have too many who are poor kicks.

Overall not a bad effort considering we kicked 1 goal and had about 4 shots on goal for the 1st half and we got one clearance from the middle for the entire second half.
- I know we were without Hopper but how can we be that bad out of the middle when Nank got 1st hands on the ball for most of the night.
- Have we paid a fortune for a bloke who can't kick? Taranto's disposal continues to be abominable - hope its just an aberation.
- Baker was huge tonight - clean, brave, decisive!
- Grimes is a step off it (Once upon a time he blanketed De Goey (I know not on him all the time).
- Rioli great but needs a hand - we need another dasher off half back.
- We need to go down the middle some of the time (we go the wing repeatedly and lose more often than not).
- Cumby needs to always play - got us going in the 3rd!
- Maybe Nank isn't the answer in the ruck (I know he is a workhorse and heart and soul of team) but I guarantee a fit Max Gawn would have torn the pies to shreds with all the part time rucks they through at us. Same happened in Elimination Final againt Brisbane - Hodge was commenting on it - Won 16-3 hitouts but lost clearances 10-5!

- Don't think its all doom and gloom - if they are the best, we can bridge the gap!
Ross was tagging DeGoey in the first half when he was forward.

I think Dimma needs to reasses what a Richmond game is. It aint working anymore against the better sides. Change it or give someone else a go that can.
Also our rucks are just not good enough. Nank for all his heart and grit is not a genuine no1 ruckman. Need to invest heavily if we want to start improving again

Tarranto battled away , still ended up with near 30 touches , not the ideal conditions for Clarke , agree on the last comment but on a wet night thought their contested style would suit the wet ! Pickett slow ? Not sure about that
Not interested in Taranto battling away! He is on good coin and is an attrocious disposer of the ball (on limited evidence admittedly).

Reckon Clarke is a high probability of not making it.
Tough call on a kid in his 2nd season playing about his 4th game.

Shows good signs, that’s all you’re looking for from a mid 20’s pick at this stage.

He’ll be ok, give him a chance.

I'm backing him. At least he can kick it to an AFL standard unlike 3/4 of the blokes out there tonight. He's halfway there.

Dimma had a shocker in his 300th. Ryan and Riewoldt forward and Cumbo on the bench on a wet night was stoopid

Nank wants to get a bit more unpredictable than just winning it & dropping at his feet. Overall good effort by an under manned team Murdered kicks for goal.

We can't mark because we are a very ordinary kicking team.
I think Rioli and maybe Graham are the best at kicking with speed..
The rest a butchers

Tarranto and Hopper are not the problem. They are both accumulators which is what we desperately needed. What we need now is to find some speed and ball use to complement them.
The Jack and Cotch decision is already looking a bad one. Time and money which could have been spent on kids.

Really poor game. Seemed to have a defensive mindset from the start, especially in first half. Trying not to get thrashed rather than playing to win. Didn’t try to take the game on at all. Better to lose on your feet than die on your knees.

Clearances may have been similar statistically but they were far more cleaner and organised. Not sure of pressure rating but they were far superior to the naked eye at ground - this was especially disappointing. Hence the Inside 50 difference.

I thought we defended ok but failed to bring the ball forward with skill & speed. That’s partly due to some ageing players but more lack of speed and/or skill in others. Really disappointed in a few, especially Maurice Jnr, Mansell, Hugo & Ross (gets loads of it, but is so messy skill wise and one pace).

A few older blokes had shockers like Pickett, Graham & even Prestia.

Need to recast a bit from here as it’s that speed and skill from clearance and spread that’s the main issue to me.

Cumberland should not be dropped again as we desperately need creative forwards - he just finds the ball. Persevere with Clarke & see who else of the younger blokes offers something - hopefully Sonsie plays well tomorrow.

One final thing, Nankervis has to stand up in these big games. Thought he was badly beaten tonight.

Bolton has speed but he looks like he is half interested so far this year
The biggest problem with Bolton is they still dont know how to best utilise him. Either stick him in the guts and leave him there or make him a permanent forward.

Pies getting a lot of bodies around the ball most of the time - that was the difference - first use

D. Rioli yes. Graham not sure. He missed Lynch with an easy one in the first quarter and missed a couple early against Carlton as well. He's not the worst though.

No good. It was embarrassing how we lost contested ball when he won the tap..he seems taps to nowhere
