Game day thread Tiges vs Saints - round 22 2023

Time for a reset. Can’t see Mini moving us forward from this level.

Need a new Captain - 1 only.
Need a new Coach - and their chosen assistants.
Need a new game plan and style.
Need to move on a few players.

Embarrassing effort today. Pathetic. Insipid. A win would have kept us in the finals race and that throw that up? Some pretty big issues at the club at the moment. Players are way too comfortable and Mini needs to take part of the blame for that. He's had them for a dozen games and we are dishing up rubbish.

Sweep the broom through the coaching ranks. Changes in the playing ranks needed as well. The co-captain decision was a mistake and has proven to be so. Grimes is finished. Champion of the club but he's done. Needs to be convinced to retire. Nank is not far behind him but we have no other decent ruckmen so he stays. Captaincy taken off him though; give it to Bakes. McIntosh needs to go; game has passed him by. Pickett as well (as much as I want access to his kids). Broad and Vlastuin? Club champions but a shadow of their former selves; any takers? Thanks for your efforts and toil this year Jack; you're a legend but it's time.

It's a little alarming how quickly we have fallen off the cliff. Reset needs to start immediately. New coach with a new philosophy is the key. Uncompromising focus on skill execution. Too many hacks in this team now.

It was a lack lustre effort today but to me I am just disappointed that we don’t back the young guys in.
Dow looked a player today, Banks looked good for the last couple and we drop him. Time to get Sonsie back in the team, Ryan for Soldo and give Brown a taste

That's the thing! Mini has not learned this in the 3 games we have played there. Should of been one on one from the start of the game. Particularly from sides that hold the ball and play the short kicking game.

The problem with backline Grimes and Broad is they've lost a yard of pace. That's a problem when your primary asset is closing speed and it slowly affects your confidence. Vlastuin was already slow but could rely on those two to do their job. Young is just a stopper and just above a fringe player and Balta is not A-grade (yet) because of his poor decision-making and disposal skills. We have serious issues back there. If we're being totally honest, Balta has been smashed the last 3 weeks. I don't see any short-term solutions.

well watching on Kayo it was obvious

we were out coached - we didn’t get our game up and running all day - the game was played on their terms
we were out pressured - our zone didn’t work, we couldn’t tackle cause we couldn’t get near them
we were out played - for some reason, out motivation has been hot and cold all year - more cold than hot
we were out run, the number of times we stopped running and left it up the other bloke which meant we were always outnumbered across the ground
we were outplayed through the middle, we gave up the centre space most game and they streamed through the middle with ease
we were out selected - Soldo was slow and ineffective, and we had no speed to give us the run we needed against a saints.


It appears in hindsight Hardwick isn’t the only person at the club who was cooked this year.

Three big issues. Our talls don't take enough marks , our smalls are too slow and thirdly we can't kick the football accurately.

Today I saw several examples of players stopping and propping when clear and entering the forward line... other sides dont do this. It is a forward's nightmare.
