Game Day thread - Rnd 18 vs Norf

Which rocket scientist decided Gibcus rucking was a good strategy? Now done his shoulder.
You don’t put a young thoroughbred over the hurdles against hacks.

Did he do his shoulder in a ruck contest? Didn't see when it happened myself. I presume you did?

No I didn’t see how he did his shoulder but my statement about playing him in the ruck still stands.

It's not about whether Ryan would have been better, it's about expecting more from the co-captain. Giving away six free kicks (and earning none) is a disgraceful statistic, especially in a game decided by a kick. Missing two kickable goals is also disappointing. The report and downfield free kick were stupid. Another guy who is on good terms with himself with no justification for being so.
Well seven said that we would have been better without him so it is about whether Ryan would have been better? What do you think? Happy to discuss why 6 frees were given against Nanks, mostly technical and most in the 1st quarter. Maybe the Tigers didn't get the weekly change in interpretation email. I think it's best to wait for the report judgement first before condemning him, commentators and I couldn't see much in it. Missed 2 shots at goal? Shame on him, he spoiled our impeccable game accuracy.

I thought Nanks had a poor first half but he manned up and performed well in the 2nd despite being a lone ruckman. Played 84% game time which is massive for him. I really hate it when posters attack his integrity, he's probably put more heart and soul inro the club than anyone. And will alway put in. I hope our next long-term ruckman has as much soul as Nanks.

It’s been a wasted season. Wasted the last year of some ageing champions, by not addressing our weaknesses in the pre-season and some poor coaching & player selection during the season.

He ain’t going anywhere but has been coaching like a busted backside this year. Reinforces the theory that he needs good assistants
This theory that assistants won us flags just grinds my gears. Coaching is about a team, there is a head coach and assistants but the ultimate decisions come from the head Coach.
Like any leadership position the success of the leader is not just what that person does but the team he or she builds around them and how they are managed, whether they are empowered and listened to.
Having good assistants and leading them and moulding them into a team is a big part of being a good coach imo.
Saying a 3 time premiership coach is some sort of lame duck made to look good by assistants is just garbage imo.

Well not really because you insinuated that his rucking caused the shoulder injury. I'd rather he not be played in the ruck too but that's not necessarily why he was subbed out.

He did it in the forward line in the last quarter.

Well going by that theory, georgie boy would be considered to be a gun of a player as he is a 3 x premshp player, but he wouldnt get a game for the kangas. As i Said everything has a Use By Date. Its time to go Dimma !
Nonsense.
There is a world of difference between a role player in the team and being the head coach.
Get a grip

They don't need a priority pick
They have quality kids and have more then Hardwick had in 2010

Agreed Sin.

I reckon our fall from grace is due to a decline in DEVELOPMENT.

That's the value of gun assistants like Caracella, Leppa, Rutten and especially McRae.

Our players aren't improving and our kids aren't dominating.

I'm not sure how you can find it.
But I've been harping on about Zurrfart, Unachie & Sympkin for ages.
They were the 3 best players on the ground

Simpkin absolutely carved us up. Strolled out of the middle at will.

Why have we never recruited or developed a tagger?

Arrogance
