Game Day thread - Rnd 18 vs Norf

Thought we might have had that many in 72gf. But no. Found one round 8 that year 11.25 v Hawks at Waverley . A win by 7 points. NB didn't check any other season.
Wow!! You really did a bit of homework there Man

As far as I can find it’s something like:

12 this year
5 in 2021
0 in 2020 (scratch matches)
11 in 2019.

but yeah, it’s hard data to find.
your about right,so hes played 1 1/2 seasons of footy in the vfl, and he always was a slow burner who needed years to develop a tank, really shows just how much covid took from our young guys.

Graham, Dusty, Ross are all strong, big bodies. Prestia doesn't need to be.

Dusty is big but doesn't really play as a battering ram when he doesn't have it. He's too good to collect firewood.

Graham is pretty average, let's face it. And he doesn't win his own ball.

Ross is less than average.

Prestia actually plays like a big-bodied mid. He is a wonderful meatball.

Prestia is pretty much alone in that bunch.

Thought that Shedsy would retire at the end of the year, Jack next year, Cotch year after.
Sheds, Caddy, RCD depart this year.
Phase the retirements.
The strategic error that the Cats and Hawks made was to cut too deep, too soon.
They treated Bartel like a carcass.
Nothing to show for it.
Still concerned by Cats ageing demographic, they fizzle at the business end.
Notching up H&A wins at GMHBA is not the same as a MCG final.
Completely different kettle of fish.
Also Lambert very likely to finish this year, Jack's form could force a serious discussion and not sure about Cotch's desire to keep going although he was putting in last week. If Jack stays then there has to be a different system for bringing the ball in to fwd 50, just bombing high to the goalsquare is not working. Too many defenders stopping Jack from tapping down to our non-existant crumbing fwds. The 2017 small fwd system just not working bc it's all too crowded, probably caused by the 6-6-6?

This has been Cotchin's best season in some time imo. To think, everyone thought he was broken down and Edwards would play together.
Cotch has had a great season, compared to last year. But only average compared to his all over career, that happens as you get old n fade out.
Shedda sadly has been irrelevant pretty much all year. I can understand and accept fudging a club champion over three or four games to a shiny 300 game milestone off the bench or as the medi sub. Carrying the bloke in the starting side for the entire season to the detriment of developing our future is a massive coaching error though. Playing a man short every game.

We have won three flags in four years.
We have some of the best, arguably the best, recruitment, talent management and fitness staff in the league, developing (and culling) our list.
The idea that they have somehow gone missing in action is nonsense, pure negative BS.
If you have a good insight into all 16 clubs off field personnel I will bow to your objectivity.
And those positions have had some degree of turnover in recent years. So we had the best they left and were replaced by the new best?
And we have now won three flags in 5 years. Can't just stop the clock.
