Game Day R21 - Foldnorf v Richmond at the Dump

Can’t recall watching a worse Richmond team.

Plenty of experience out there so injuries no excuse. The senior players offer no leadership and are more often than not the ones who commit the horrible energy sapping errors.

We will down the bottom for a long time

All we can hope for in the last few matches is that the Tigers try to play with some pride for the guernsey and give us something to be happy about after a sad season.
Roll on season 2025

The scary thing is, we had our best midfield out there today. It’s only Ross, Pickett, Clarke & Maurice currently missing through injury.
Injuries have been pretty bad but the notion that we could challenge the eight with a clean bill of health is absurd. Bottom six at best.

I'm not as downbeat as some on here. I reckon some of our senior players seriously let down the young kids today. I thought Banks, Campbell and Green were very good (shame Steely got injured) but when they were reading out the kicking efficiency of our mids (at 1 point all 3 of Prestia, Hopper and Taranto were below 35%), it was embarassing. Throw in Shorts efforts and they really let down the young kids.

Of our senior guys Vlastuin and Broad were great down back and I thought Graham and Baker were good.

What I took away from it though the most was North are at least 3-4 years in front of us in terms of rebuilding through the draft and thats the dross they put up!! Had we had a strong forward target like Larkey we'd have won that game in a canter, despite those senior players letting down the rest.

I still think the kids we have can play those role players and we will go to the draft and try and start taking those next group of superstar players to take us back up the ladder, whether thats with or without Bolton / Rioli etc we will work through that over the next coming months.

Campbell was the highlight for me, only player who looked like hitting a target.
And green

Both will be there for the coming ride along with Gibcus.

Then the high end picks we get this year.

What can he do about it? He has had nothing to do with the list. Not sure he should have to coach them to kick.
Buck stops with him, not fixed in a week, he is staring coaching reality in the face now. This summer needs to work out what he wants from 2025, and get the board on board.

Problem is no one knows who that is this year. Harley Reid was in last year’s draft.
The list management team might think we have too many midfielders and select a key position instead.
I wouldn't put it past them.
All I know is that we need a massive clean out. Let's drop our cap space and start again.

Unfortunately there is unlikely to be a young player in our best half dozen despite how badly they played today. I’m not expecting any young ones to be consistent but we aren’t seeing any of them have a “day out” and show us that they might get to B grade in a season or two. Eg Campbell his best game is still his first.
Seth Campbell would be in my top 6 for this game but that's about it. No young midfielders in our side, something with a bit of luck we can address in the next draft.

Post 2020 the recruiting of Clarke, dancing to the tune of Hardwick's delusional belief we were still in premiership contention, has been a disaster.

Not one of the young generation of Tigers is taking the game by the b#%^s and stamping his name on the game. Bit players at best.

More later

I’ve been watching this club for a long time. I was there in the late 80s early 90s when the club nearly folded. I saw the debacle of the Wallace and Frawley era and thankfully the long awaited renaissance in the Hardwick years.

I’ve seen a lot of poor Richmond teams. But I have never seen one that kicks as badly as this team or that is so physically weak. We just can’t kick the ball or stick decent tackles. No wonder we are heading for the worst season result in the club’s history.

I just can’t understand how people are getting so excited about this and winning a spoon 4 years after winning a flag; just for the number one draft pick in a draft where no one has any idea who should be number one.

The performance of this club post 2020 has been totally unacceptable. No way in hell we should be where we are now. Injuries are not the only issue. Obviously they haven’t helped but something is clearly off at the club.

You’ve been saying all year that we’d challenge the eight with a clean bill of health, which of course is nonsense.
