Dylan Grimes JDM

Why? He has 6 weeks to get match fit and play a couple of games if he is good enough. If he is ready play him.

Easily in our best 22.

Really, he's come back early this season was very flat.
He'll struggle big time.
No need to rush back in.

I am a massive fan but it must be said his early season comeback wasn't at the level of last year. He has missed a lot of football in the last 18 months but when fit he is back in the side. Needs match fitness at Coburg clearly.
In saying that I think Petterd will still have a spot when he returns. Batchelor has been forced out.

Shouldn't walk straight back in, even when he wasn't injured his form was very ordinary.
Like you said, his properly played 10 games in 2 years

Current back six well settled. Have the club 3rd for lowest points against and did the job on Freo last week who are one of the two clubs ahead of us. Swannies this week.

There is a reason for that well known saying....."if it ain't broke, don't fix it". No need to rush Dylan back. Get him ready for 2014 with a full pre-season as opposed to risking another injury and have him spend much of it in rehab, which will put him behind the 8-ball all of next season too.

If he's match fit in 2-3 weeks to play he's not risking injury anymore by playing seniors than he is playing VFL.

I rate him highly but this regularity of injuries is a worry,
My expectations are low as I fear he will break down again...what ever we can get out of him is a bonus imo.

Agree.

Having both Tuck and Grimes fit in the business end of the season is a very good little bonus for us.

I am sure all the conditioning and fitness staff are taking a very planned and careful approach to Grimes' return to football.
It would be great to have him cherry ripe for the finals, but I no longer hold expectations about his reliability.
I like the way the club seems to be treating his situation as a "bonus" rather than an imperative.

Thanks for that ToO - good spotting
I just had a look at it
It is pleasing that he said there's no question of him playing anywhere else; he loves Richmond; he's going to play the rest of his career here; he loves being a leader and Richmond have given him more than he could ever hope for from an AFL club

Grimes plays a half with Coburg reserves on Sunday, and a full game with Coburg's seniors the following week and back for the Tigers against the Brisbane Lions in round 20.

Was reminded again how good he is after watching that last quarter against Sydney from last year that's up on the website. His pace, agility as well as reading of the play is all elite. If he can't stay on the park and get back to his best it would be a tradgedy.

Yep was his best game IMO... And then the next week twang

Apparently had 14 possessions and 7 marks in his return for Coburg 2nds today. Good return.

Only played a half too if I'm not mistaken

Believe so...not too bad at all for a half of footy back from injury.

Most important thing is that he got through unscathed.

Will play for Coburg seniors next week.

Yeah Grimes is back after a half of football in the 2nds of the worse comp in the country..
I'm excited
