Dylan Grimes JDM

Congrats Dylan. Fingers crossed the injury gods are a bit kinder to you from now on.

I would keep Grimes in cotton wool until next year. Apparently Hardwicke has a different thought process & is looking at him playing finals this year. Wonder who will miss out if this eventuates. Maybe Astbury who I think is just starting to pay his way.

Why? What does that achieve?

If he's fit and ready to play you play him. If you live in fear of his next injury you'll end up never playing him again.

Agree, if his foot has healed, he isn't in any pain, has been cleared by the medical guys then get him playing.

Would love to see him working in with Chappy and new improved Rance.

nah - grimes is a leader and a gun player - if fit he plays

why can't Astbury play also - start forward replacing McGuane as the third tall and can be swung back if the tigers are being "cloked"

No doubt there's merit to the idea of wrapping him up, getting him ready for a big preseason and strengthening his body for (hopefully) a full season next year... But he's too good a player to leave out of the squad IMO. If he's ready we should play him.

Totally agree. Who are we bringing back.. Bourke?
His form prior to his last injury was crap and risking him to last out final gee wiz
Personally wouldn't play him.

You have to play him once match fit, he's a quality player, but I understand also with all the injuries he's had, easing him in and ensuring that he gets a full pre-season under his belt for next year.

Full game in VFL this week then in the team the next week. We need him to play a few games before finals.

For mine, he needs to be picked on form not fitness. He's missed so much footy and if his match touch & hardness isn't 100% then give Astbury/McGuane a crack. Needs serious form at Coburg to be considered imho. As for the body, it's irrelevant - if he's cleared by the medicos he's available. That makes it just a case of form and role in the current team. Nobody should get picked on history given the opportunity in front of us.

Get the max out of him while he is fit. Couple of lead up games, then a run through the finals, take him as far as we can. If he breaks during finals at least he's had a run and has all summer to get ready again for next year. If he rests now he misses the opportunity and may still break over summer or early next year n be back in the hole.
Hopefully the worst of his niggles are done n he can finish off playing through this year and have a massive season next year as well, poor bugger is deserving of some continuity.

Even in the 60% game time for Coburg last week, he was good. Fitness is his major issue. You can't contribute if you can't get to contests for 95% of the game time for a defender.

Really depends on how much training he got into his legs during the injured period. If his fitness base is up to it, I have no doubt form will follow.

He always seems to be able o get straight back into it. Not always outstanding but always seems to hold his own and be at least solid so I don't think form would be a concern. I'd like to see him get a go the last couple of games leading into finals.
