Dylan Grimes JDM

I love the kid as much as everyone else but his injuries are a major worry.Hope he comes good and can string a full season together.

I am tapering my expectations.
Not quite as impressive last time back as before the hammies and now problems with his feet.
The lack of continuity is harmful to his development in an important period for him.
He can play, that's obvious to anyone who knows footy but needs to get games under his belt or else someone else will take his opportunity.

I get the feeling Dylan is going to be our next "Kel Moore" in that he,ll be on the list for 8 seasons, play 1 good full season but the rest will be injury plagued. Hope I'm wrong.

Grimes may have just been unlucky too. We've had concerns about long-term problems with Cotchin too, but they come good if managed well. I was actually heartened to hear he might be playing again in 2 weeks or so. A month at Coburg and we can make a call on whether there's a place for him in a finals team. Could be a great addition come the end of the year if we're still looking for an upgrade on Astbury/Batchelor types. Fingers crossed.

Did Moore have a "good" season? I'm might've missed it
He was rubbish

He was good in 08 (or 09?). He played 61 of his 87 games in 08,09,10. Which meant he played 26 games over 6 seasons (04,05,06,07, 11 and 12)

Surprised if he gets back into the side. Missed way too much football.
Get him ready for next year.

Grimes would be huge in the finals. He should be nursed back into things. First game should be against Brisbane in Round 20, IMO.

Why? He has 6 weeks to get match fit and play a couple of games if he is good enough. If he is ready play him.

Easily in our best 22.

Yep. You can't treat him with kid gloves forever just because he's injury prone.

Give him a couple at Coburg and if he's right get him into the seniors. Far better option than Petterd in the heat of the final.

Dylan said all along he hopes to be back for the Brisbane game. Tracking on target.

Very good news RE: Grimes.

Extra pressure on players like Petterd and Batchelor now that Grimes may only be a couple to a few weeks from playing seniors.

Interesting to see that Petterd appears ahead of Batchelor now - thinking Batch might be trade material come the post-season and that we will keep Petterd on our list at seasons end.

Yep, they've always been setting him for the Brisbane game... Would be perfect timing giving him 3 or so games at afl to tune up for a frenetic elimination final

Nothing wrong with having tall smalls down back though.

Grimes is a genuine premiership number 3 defender. Moving him to the number 4 slot could possibly strengthen our back 6. He makes good decisions.
Rance would become the 3rd tall which could either make or break him. Morris and Houli in the running spots.

As you say Jack we are crying out for a number 2 back. This is the year to be playing Astbury, Elton, or Griffiths. We need to find out if they are likely. For mine I would be giving Astbury first go. Another good decision maker. The wild card could be Ben Darrou. Plays on the big boys at Coburg but is he big enough to do the job at afl level.

Perhaps we need to find out.

He's back soon, Josey. Given that Astbury hasn't earned a call up yet (in the best for Coburg on the weekend) and we're playing a very small dynamic backline now it'll be interesting to see how Dimma shapes us over the next few weeks.

On the one hand every coach wants a settled back six. OTOH he wants his best back six. Interesting times.

Agree with all u have said apart from above
If were now plating Elton CHB in the magoos the coaches have mental issues. Do they also not realize we have no CHF. The have stuffed griffo by tryin to make a fwd a back and now what they want to do the same to Elton who is shOwing good promise up fwd? And u want to add tv to that list too?????
Who's go play tall fwd jack maguane and A Edwards lol. Gotta think about both ends of the ground mate.

Astbury should be developed in the magoos as the CHB firstly before the Others. If he comes on we have him chappy and Rance as 3 talls. Grimes 4th tall hbf runner interceptor when he does play

Astbury is back so I guess it worked out ok for now, lids. Elton got some praise from Clark on the weekend. But not setting the world on fire.

Oh and just for a bit of versatility against Freo, Tyrone was not playing LMID. He was at CHB for a while there. Did well too. ;D
