Dylan Grimes JDM

Re: Dylan "Premiership Player" Grimes

Should be close to our best player.
Behind Martin & Rance it has to be him and then Cotchin then jack.

Grimes was picked up in the bargain box (pre-season) draft, while his brother was a first round national draft blueblood. While Dylan was recovering from the first of three extended stints on the sidelines, Jack was named captain of Melbourne. At one stage, Jack had played 85 games to Dylan's 39.

Fast forward three years... Dylan leads his brother for games played and has a premiership medal while Jack has returned to his junior club, Hurstbridge. The fickle fortunes of football...
Yes, clear example of one player wanting success much more than the other and prepared to work harder to get it. Grimes had a few deficiencies when he started but you wouldn't know it now.

Re: Dylan "Premiership Player" Grimes

Bit hard on Jack. Also a solid citizen and cruelled by injury.

Dylan just happens to be a gun defender and Jack had the will like Dylan but perhaps lacked some tricks to make it as a top mid.

Good post. Jack lacked the athleticism and was cruelled by injury, Robert. None of that his own doing.

BTW if Dylan had run out of luck, and he was very close, it would have been a tragedy. FWIW I still think Dylan's performance is a little curtailed due to his previously chronic hammies. Just a bit less explosive.

Agree. Very astute

Chris Scott on AFL 360 ... When Lloyd tackled Puolpolopolo high and gave away the free kick, the bloke that started to remonstrate with him (grimes) is a serial ducker too..
He is a massive wanker.. I hope we slapped them again KS

He's right though.

Grimes is a master at the shoulder shrug.
But I agree that he is a wanker and he is still very salty from the QF.

Did he actually say that Grimes is a ducker?

If he did he has gone to another level. Not many coaches lay the boots into opposition players in public.

He just said one of the players who remonstrated is pretty good at it himself and then gave his smarmy grin. Just deflecting. He really doesn’t need umpires deciding that they are not going to give Selwood any more frees. That would be a serious disaster for his team.

I think the Grimes' played their junior footy at Diamond Creek.

And the ex Melbourne skipper won't even sign autographs for kids or do much at all whereas surprisingly Boomer Harvey has been a terrific ambassador back at North Heidelberg.

Grimesy would be top 5 at the duck. Selwood ......... Daylight ............. Poppy, L. Thomas, Grimes ? , I think Toby Greene is pretty accomplished?

But he's our ducker.

Miles is our Selwood in the ducking stakes, people just aren't seeing it now that he is in the 2's.

Re: Dylan "Clag" Grimes

Dylan got into an ugly habit a couple of years ago re ducking but seems to have taken it out of his game. Didn't see much of it last year or this year so far, if at all.

plus when he was doing it, he was a low-down, dirty ducker compared to those other show-duckers.

plus ducking in the backline is different to i50.

Grimesy as trailed off last in goals scored per duck.

So, its pretty clear, Grimesy good; Selwood/Poppy/Thomas bad.

is Toby Greene a dirty little ducker?

I look forward to Scott referring to Joel Selwood as a ducker, I think I might be waiting a long time. Scott is getting worse with comments like these, complete and utter wanker.

Re: Dylan "Clag" Grimes

To paraphrase the great Lano & Woodley " Selwood is the mother of all duckers".

Would it be too much to yell out "mother ducker" the next time we play the pussycats?

Welcome to three years ago, Scott.

Yep Miles might be even better than Selwood at it. Has had 158 frees for 88 against.
