He gets so little credit for what he does. Even now, neutrals are saying they can't believe a spud like Grimes is a premiership player.

If someone said that to me I would ask that idiot " which opponent has had the better of him this year?". I'm guessing because he is low profile they think he's no good

Gotta love how he plays. A throwback to the Tigers of old.
Imo our 2nd most valuable defender after Rance. His ability to play small and tall is invaluable.

Gun, and if the pundits had actually been watching this year he probably should have been close to AA or at least in the squad

Unheralded by the ignorant outside the club. Lauded and highly valued by his club and those with some semblance of football knowledge. Well played Grimesy.

My judgements on a lot of players were wrong at the start of the year, but I did say Grimes was second only to Rance in the backline.

Re: Dylan "Premiership Player" Grimes

And a few years back we were thinking that injury may just stop a promising career. 2000 non Dank injections and look at him now.

Great speech at BAndF. Amazing how many quietly spoken players are the most physical on field.

I thought it the best speech of the night. Here for those that haven't seen it.

Great speech.
Sums up why we were successful this year.
Humility ,hard work, respect, belief , love and unity.
Valuable lessons in life to foster success.
Quality young man part of a quality team and club.
So proud if this club.
Well done to all

Re: Dylan "Premiership Player" Grimes

Of the three awesome signings today. This is the best one. Grimes could have held out for a lot of money. Players like him that can basically play on anyone are very rare, but a hugely important commodity.

Well done to Grimes for showing great loyalty to the club. And isn’t it great to see that we as a club are truly earning that loyalty.

Re: Dylan "Premiership Player" Grimes

Agreed Toots, good result for the Tigers a very humble , bloke but a bloody great competitor.

The versatility (plays tall and small) and hardness at contests that Grimes and now also Broad give to the Tigers back half was a major cog in the Tigers Premiership charge last season.

Good on you Dylan well played all things considered he was about to snatch it and give the game away through chronic hamstrings, was very happy for him on GF Day and his speech at the Medal Night was bloody good too.

Grimsey is quite self depreciating but his importance to the Tigers side is immense.

Was the first to take the mindfulness stuff seriously too. Went from him, to a group of three or four, and then list compulsory.

Re: Dylan "Premiership Player" Grimes

No doubt he feels gratitude to the club for sticking with him when he couldn't take a *smile* without pinging a hammy. He was that close to retiring. Now repaying the faith and killing it while doing so.

Re: Dylan "Premiership Player" Grimes

great news. his influence in the team should never be underestimated.

Re: Dylan "Premiership Player" Grimes

I mused a few years ago about whether or not we had the best of the Grimes' brothers and was howled down by the people that heard me. Even if Jack hadn't been blighted by injury, I still think we got the better of the two. There's apparently a 3rd younger brother, but he doesn't seem to have made it as more than a suburban player.

Re: Dylan "Premiership Player" Grimes

Still underrated by many other club's supporters, during the finals series my mate asked is he the brother of the Melbourne bloke. Not by us Tigers though, great versatile player for us & rapt he has signed on again
