Re: Dylan "Premiership Player" Grimes

Wonderful footballer. Well deserved. Hard as nails.

Still underrated by many other club's supporters, during the finals series my mate asked is he the brother of the Melbourne bloke. Not by us Tigers though, great versatile player for us & rapt he has signed on again

There is a topic on the Collingwood BF board where they say they'd take Langdon (yeah, I know, who?) over Grimes every day of the week. :rofl

Re: Dylan "Premiership Player" Grimes

Gun. If he stays healthy will be one our most important backmen for years

Re: Dylan "Premiership Player" Grimes

So stoked grimesy not playing the RFA thing.

Grimesy is one of those players I cant put a $ figure on?

what would this contract be worth you reckon?

$1.4 over 3?

Agree. Great consistent player.

Re: Dylan "Premiership Player" Grimes

Dylan, along with Broad, is a big reason our defence is better equipped than most to cope with Small Ball. They can keep up with the slipperiest of smalls and compete with any of the bigs. Try to play one key forward against us and Astbury takes him while Dyl, Broad, Floss, Brando and Bash take the medium/smalls, and Rance runs amok.

Re: Dylan "Premiership Player" Grimes

I think he is underrated because he looks so unassuming and physically under-developed. You can see parallels with astburys comments about staying - as much about playing with your mates than just getting a game

Re: Dylan "Premiership Player" Grimes

Tough as old boots and very sharp elbows.

Love him.

What, Karl? Good player in his day, but a tad past it now. Rapt the Grub has signed on for a few more years, just love the way he plays his footy.

Re: Dylan "Premiership Player" Grimes

How old is the lad?
Said he's happy with being a "one club player."
Get the feeling he'll finish up after his contract

No doubt he feels gratitude to the club for sticking with him when he couldn't take a p!ss without pinging a hammy. He was that close to retiring. Now repaying the faith and killing it while doing so.

Continuity is the key to his resurgence after it looked like he'd be lost to the game early. His career has been

played 1, missed 2
played 7, missed 13
played 8, missed 4
played 1, missed 10
played 5, missed 13
played 4, missed 1
played 5, missed 2
played 2, missed 1
played 14, missed 3
played 13, missed 2
played 5, missed 5
played 3, missed 1
played 36*

He'll only be 30. I'd expect him to keep going after that with at least 2 more years, he's missed a lot of footy so reckon there will be plenty left in the legs.

Re: Dylan "Premiership Player" Grimes

really liked grimesys game yesterday. very assured didnt punch but clunked, and of course baby-faced aggressive.

Re: Dylan "Premiership Player" Grimes

Everything I want from a Richmond player.
Gives his all every time. Love him

Re: Dylan "Premiership Player" Grimes

Grimes was picked up in the bargain box (pre-season) draft, while his brother was a first round national draft blueblood. While Dylan was recovering from the first of three extended stints on the sidelines, Jack was named captain of Melbourne. At one stage, Jack had played 85 games to Dylan's 39.

Fast forward three years... Dylan leads his brother for games played and has a premiership medal while Jack has returned to his junior club, Hurstbridge. The fickle fortunes of football...
