Dylan Grimes JDM

Re: Dylan "Clag" Grimes

He was fantastic again today, 100% disposal efficiency although there were a few mongrels kicks amongst that lot that worked out for us :hihi

Re: Dylan "Clag" Grimes

May as well cut and paste our back 6 into the AA team.

Their hate will mean they'll give the spots to other spuds like Stewart, Hurley etc.

Re: Dylan "Clag" Grimes

Is it just the telly or is he getting much further up the ground these days? Is this part of our ability to shut the gate and keep the ball trapped in the front half?

Re: Dylan "Clag" Grimes

We are playing an unbelievably aggressive press.

When grimes is getting the odd shot at goal and short and Houli are regularly getting shots you know you are squeezing the throat hard.

Re: Dylan "Clag" Grimes

He will go close to hall of fame for us by the time be retires.
He Corey Enright part 2

Re: Dylan "Clag" Grimes

Has anyone else noticed how many different tricks Grimes has for rushing the ball over the line and making it look like he is really trying to do something else? I swear, he has never run the ball out of bounds the same way twice. Somehow, he manages to do it a number of times every week anyway.

He is rain man when it comes to finding the safety of the boundary.

Re: Dylan "Clag" Grimes

Reckon last weekends game was close to his best in an injury plagued career.
Was our best player in the first half.

True in the first 3 or 4 years but since start of 2014 he's only missed 15 games of a possible 100 games. Has played the last 45 games.

Showed some uncharacteristic dash with the ball against North. Gee he is lightning quick for his size.

That first goal he set up last week was just about the highlight of the game. Seems to be constantly improving.

Was the first thing I noticed about him when first drafted, pure speed, he is lightning , in saying that his not as quick as he first was imho, purely because of the hamstring issues his had. The best shutdown player in the comp, better version of Ben Hart. ( my ol man just rolled in his grave)

Even Rancey found himself 20 metres out from our goal last week.

Re: Dylan "Clag" Grimes

He was not Clag when in the third quarter against WC he was intently watching the play on the opposite forward flank . WC switched play to other flank Clag turned around to pick up his player but he was not there as he had snuck off to the bench. His replacement Willie Rioli was a sprinting down the boundary line then recieved the ball with Clag still miles away. Got off the hook as a point was the result.

Typically a player isn't going to run to the bench with that player. Sometimes happens where stars align and player off the bench gets an easy kick.

Re: Dylan "Clag" Grimes

Thought Grimes had his poorest game I can remember, in saying that it’s a bloody high standard he sets . Haven’t watched the game again , however just appeared we got a bit dismantled down back, noticed Darling actually competed individually in the air against Rance, Ashbury, Grimes and Broad at different stages , not sure if we were searching for different match ups or we jut kept getting out of whack down there.

Re: Dylan "Clag" Grimes

Grimes best move of the day was ragdolling Rioli when he came over to remonstrate over a tackle

Re: Dylan "Clag" Grimes

No-one down back distinguished themselves last week except maybe Shorty. Our defence has rarely been unravelled like this except in Crows and first Aints game 2017. It happens from time to time.

But, "We'll learn from this ... and get better."

Darling looks to be a beast at present though; was it 13 F50 marks and 8 contested against our backs? That's some game.
