So my favourite Richmond player squashed the ‘ohhhh’ Eddie Betts like a bug.
He destroyed his influence in the game.
I say Dylan is the All Australian footballer.
Champion.
Agreed.

Re: Dylan "Optimus" Grimes

Has become so dependable and reliable. Love the way he goes about his footy, relentless and uncompromising. Just no-nonsense shut-down efforts against all manner of forwards. Good on you, Grub, you're a premiership player now for the mighty RFC.

Re: Dylan "Optimus" Grimes

There’s a photo of Tross, Dave and Grimes holding the cup. Need to find it. The three of them are one of the tightest, closely knot defensive trio I can remember.

Re: Dylan "Optimus" Grimes

Don't think he has received enough kudos for his role on Betts. He was the one crows player that really had me worried going into the game. Got going early, then no influence for the reat of the game.

What about the 4th horseman? Tormund?

Re: Dylan "Optimus" Grimes

Toby Greene and Eddie Betts - Very tricky players to hold - any opportunity at all and they will make you pay. Both scalped.
He is a nasty piece of work with a schoolboy smile.

All ours

He gets so little credit for what he does. Even now, neutrals are saying they can't believe a spud like Grimes is a premiership player.

Gotta love how he plays. A throwback to the Tigers of old.

Re: Dylan "Optimus" Grimes

Just a star and should have been all Australian if the selectors had a clue. Would not swap him for a single back pocket / flanker in the comp

Re: Dylan "Optimus" Grimes

Betts is still rolled up, laying against the point post at G...
Grimes is a gun. He has to be included in the best 22 of all time now.
Betts was in the best form coming into this game.

Re: Dylan "Optimus" Grimes

Nice little arm pull on Betts to prevent him from kicking that loose ball in the second. Master of the Dark Arts our Dylan.

Yep, saw that and waited for the ump to penalise and when he didn't I knew it was our day.

Re: Dylan "Premiership Player" Grimes

Grimes took the afl's policy of having no player Betts to heart, and put it to practice.

Masterful. Betts was trying to get space by pushing off but Grimes was a step ahead. The ump saw Betts push his arm back (rather than get pulled back), Optimus knew he could use that to his advantage with a little grab . No jumper to strech, hard to adjudicate. Genius.
