Batch has looked better than him this season. Seeing as Chaplin won't be dropped, does Astbury come in for Grimes?

That'd be the move I'd make. Loved the goal early on, but from then he was very ordinary. Sad, because I thought he may have something, but he doesn't.
 
Disagree here. Is trying to learn a new role, rebounding negating defender. Not suited to it, but is good at playing the negating one.
 
The most disappointing part for me was the free he gave away in the 3rd quarter when running with the flight. We had wrested momentum and were making a bit of a charge and he conceded the free, at no stage did he consider turning to face the ball or try a more subtle approach. Have been surprised at his lack of composure under pressure, thought he was going to turn into a cool head down back.

He's still a babe in reality but I had high hopes he'd be a gun HBF'er.

Yep, in the VFL!
 
He still has a long way to go but is improving.

He was only in that position because Morris made a bad decision up the ground. Went for a bump when he could have tackled. Why would you do that with the new interpretation of holding the ball

Whilst he is nearing 24 he has played less than 50 games. He will improve rapidly I think from here if he can play continuously .
 
I remember a game against Sydney a few years back and Grimes was fantastic. Providing run and rebound. Reckon he did his hammy a week or two later at Dreamtime and has never got back to that level.

Spot on. Remember the Swans game & he was superb. Never been at that level since. Injuries & confidence have stopped him reaching his potential.
 
Oh crap! Now I have to watch VFL Batchelor jogging around our backline without a clue what he is doing
