Agree. Although it is great to have Batchelor as back up.
For those that remember 1980 Batch is a Graeme Landy clone
Hope he doesn't drink as much beer as glandy !!

Talking to an old Sheila in 3121 one night And she reckoned after playing glandy would beat the supporters back to the social club

Comparing to 1980, Batch seems to be moving (and somehow jumping) more like the Ghost. Just needs to lengthen those strides while holding the ball in one hand more. ;D

Over the pre season Grimes has developed the confidence to take risks by foot out of the D50.

This is a very encouraging sign. If he can start running the ball out of defence and start opening up the play by spearing the ball 50 m Upfield and hitting targets it will go a long long way in helping the RFC go from a good team to potential great team.

Grimes has always been a great defensive player, if he starts to develop himself as an offensive weapon, look out !

He began this last year and hit some really tough passes, but no doubt he is being encouraged to attack more. I think he's our new 'mop'.

He made a few mistakes but I thought Grimes played well. He gave a bit of drive which will be crucial if he is to play as a 'small.'.

Thought he made some basic errors, poor dropped Mark an a few poor ground ball fumbles as well as some good stuff, has to be better thou

In his early days, his sure hands and composure were standouts.

Has become very fumbly IMO.

I'll never forget the first time I saw Grimes play. He made twenty errors in the first half. As the game wore on he got some composure and did ten good things. He stayed hyperactive and got reliable. Later that season he tore his hammie off making a freak save and we couldn't get his body right for years.

His body's right now.

Grimey didn't make twenty mistakes in the first half tonight. He's not that busy these days. But he was a sideshow of bungling for an hour and a half. (He played better when he was hobbling.) The bloke had improved physically and yet gone backwards. With all the classy drugs footballers take in these modern times I wondered if Grimes had a bottle of Aldi vodka snookered behind a goal post. (Looking back on that I was obviously wrong because nobody snookers an empty bottle.) And I thought he should be dropped and then I felt a little guilty because I wasn't a footballer so what right did I have to take all the classy drugs?

After 3/4 time he played the best football I've ever seen him play.

This blokes is NOT an A grader.

How he gets left unscathed is beyond me.

Looks like Mr Gumby we he gets the footy or ''tries to get the footy''.

Still played <50 games, you expect him to be an A-grader? Still only 23.

Grimes is capable of some pretty special stuff - also some pretty cringeworthy stuff. Reminds me of a certain other defender we have marshalling our backline these days. Iron out the kinks with some continuity/confidence and he'll be alright.

When u say unscathed, do u mean by injury or by supporters ragging on him?

I only noticed one fumble from him last week, which unfortunately for him looked twice as bad as it did result in a Carlton goal. Otherwise he played a solid game and had clean hands. He may not be A grade but he is a solid B to B+ defender. Could make it to A grade, just needs to stay injury free.

I'm a fan. Bobbled a mark last week, apart from that a good game. Good size, quick, goes in, getting more and more attacking. Pretty surprised he seems to be a bit of a whipping boy actually, usually I can see why even if I don't always agree.

I think he's forgotten how to handball, actually. Hopefully remembers soon.

agree with the handball issue

he is almost having air handballs it is that bad at the moment

love him otherwise

Grimsey had an absolute shocker last week, which followed average form in pre-season games.
A good side would have punished us for his multiple errors but fortunately we were playing Carlton.
If team balance allows, happy for him to regain touch in the ressies for a few weeks.
